that his own fear is not letting him become the soldier that he really wants to be. So, he decides to ask the dentist to pull out his healthy tooth. Due to the fact that he is not considered the “macho soldier” which is something that Curt Lemon has been wanting to be ever since he got the war. 9.

As soon as Mary Anne arrived in Vietnam, she quickly became curious about her

new environment. She became so intrigued that she wanted to be more involved in the war. And as time passed by Mary Anne quickly adapted to her new environment, making it easier for her to be part of the war. Since Mary Anne was such a different person when she arrived in Vietnam. Her female ways slowly disappeared, making it less shocking that Mary Anne was able to transform herself into a killer. And although Mary Anne was a woman, it did not really matter because she was able to leave her past self and become more like the other soldiers. The reason why O’Brien let Rat Kiley tell part of the story was because he was there when Mary Anne has arrived and left Vietnam. Rat’s story does end up fitting O’Brien’s criteria because Mary Anne’s story was really unbelievable, and really shocking to think that she was changed into a new person. 10. In the story Henry Dobbins wears his girlfriend’s pantyhose around his neck. Everyone believes that it is Dobbins good luck charm. Due to the fact that when he was wearing his girlfriend’s pantyhose, he survived tripping over a land mine, later after that incident he was also able to survive a firefight. With that in mind, it was enough evidence for everyone to believe that the pantyhose was a good luck charm for Dobbins. Later in the story Dobbins girlfriend ends up breaking up with him. Besides Dobbins

pain and heartbreak, he still ends up wearing his ex-girlfriend’s pantyhose around his neck because he still believes that there is still some sort of magic left in them....
