Short Reflection Paper #2...

Description

Markanthony Rizzo Dr. Benkert THEO 201-B06 10/21/2016

Short Reflection Paper #2 Over the past 8 weeks, my view on theology has changed drastically. Previous to this course, I did not understand just how important and vital it is to the everyday Christian. Key concepts such as special revelation, and general revelation have taught me that God reveals Himself in different ways, and it is never wise to put God in a box. Limiting God’s almighty power and guidance is only a hindrance as to what and where He wants to take you. Before taking this course, I thought that Theology was only something a Pastor or religious leader had to know in order to teach Scripture, but when you think about it, all Christians should be teachers of the Word of God because that is what we are called to do (Matthew 28:16-20). Having a healthy knowledge of what and why you believe what you believe can either make or break your faith. Many Christians can struggle with doubting the Word of God because they don’t have a wellformed Theology. As for me, not only have I grown in my walk with Christ because of this course, but I have also been able to put it into practice in my everyday life. Theology not only provides well rounded wisdom, but also shapes your worldview on life and how and why you do what you do matters. Colossians 3:2 states, “Set your mind on things above, not on the things that are on this Earth.” Living this out can be tough because as created beings who are flawed, we tend to focus only on the here and now. As for myself, growing in my Theology has made me more aware of this, every single day. God calls us to know and grow

deeper into His Word, and as a result He promises to reveal Himself more and more to us. Theology is the act of taking that step of growing in my relationship with Christ to the next level by looking at the practicality and the core of what I believe to be true. Rather than focusing on the material world and everything it has to offer, Biblical Theology has taught me that focusing on Christ and taking the time to read and study His Word will not only be beneficial to me in the here and now, but more so by delivering His message to the ends of the Earth until He comes again....
