Description

Randy Castillo September 11, 2017 ENGL. 3306-MW12

One of the elements that work was the way Tom and Eliza spoke in the play that helped portray their history. Also the constant repetition of words that appeared throughout the play would remind me what the two characters feel and what type of couple they were. The play had rhythm to because the dialogues between Tom and Eliza would constantly reappear in certain order as it depend on where and when the play took place and what they were feeling at the moment. What was unsuccessful was that the dialogue didn’t feel like Tom Eliza barely interacted with each other. The dialogue felt like thoughts instead of spoken words unless the dialogue was purposely written in the way it’s written. The words within the play felt like thoughts instead of dialogue which would remind me of how a novel is written. The constantly repetition of certain lines that Tom and Eliza spoke felt like it would work better in a poem. Soon I began to think I was reading a musical because of how there would be a brief moment of dialogue that actually made it simply clear that were talking to each other, but then Tom and Eliza would go back to saying the same or similar thing that already been said two or three pages ago....
