TYPES OF EXER EXERCISES CISES 1. Flexibility exercise Flexibility comes from the word “flex” which means bend. Flexibility exercises improve the range of motion of joints and muscles. Stretching is one of the different types of exercises that improves flexibility.

Types of stretching 

Static stretching

Static means stationary, so static stretches isolate one muscle group at a time and hold a position rather than moving through a range of motion. Static stretching is likely what comes to mind when you think of stretching, in general – calf stretches, toe touches, standing hamstring and quad stretches, and many yoga poses.

Dynamic/ ballistic stretching

Dynamic means active, energetic, or vigorous, so dynamic stretching involves movement – usually of more than one muscle group. Think of arm circles, hip hinges and circles, twisted lunges, leg swings, high kicks, and moving quad or hamstring stretches. These stretches take the body through a near-full range of motion that mimics the same movements you go through while exercising.

Things to remember: Dynamic stretches use movement while static stretches don’t Dynamic stretches boost athletic performance while static stretching reduces it Dynamic stretches is best for pre-workout while static stretching is best for post-workout Both dynamic and static stretching improve range of motion, balance and body awareness and reduce risk of injury.

2. Aerobic exercise The word aerobic is made up of two Greek words: aeros meaning air and bios meaning life. Aerobic exercise is vigorous enough to increase the body’s need for oxygen and hence air intake and breathing rate increases. Aerobic is done at a pace that allows an adequate supply of oxygen to reach your muscles as you workout. This type of exercise can be continued for 20-45 minutes without being exhausting

3. Anaerobic exercise Anaerobic exercise works just a few muscles at a time. Weightlifting is a kind of anaerobic exercise and other kinds of anaerobic exercise makes your muscles bigger and stronger. anaerobic exercises does not require a lot of oxygen. It does not work your heart or lungs that much. You can only do anaerobic exercise for short periods of time because the muscles you’re using quickly get tired.

4. Calisthenics exercise Calisthenics is a form of exercise consisting of a variety of movements that exercise large muscle groups, such as running, standing, grasping, pushing, etc. These exercises are often performed rhythmically and with minimal equipment, as bodyweight exercises. Think pullups, pushups, dips, pistol squats—those kinds of exercises....
