Description

I learned about the web during this week. I realized how useful the reading assignment resources in Unit 1 could be after reviewing them. To begin, I studied client and server architectures and the interactions between the two. In my studies, clients are computers that are connected to the internet. Servers, on the other hand, are perpetually switched on computers, storing the actual sites and allowing users to access those sites via their web browsers. Besides learning TCP/IP, DNS, and HTTP, I also learned about other important components like HTML, CSS, and JS. After learning about the web browser, I discovered how it works. The next thing I read was an in-depth account of DNS. My next step was to study web standards. On this page, I learned about tags and attributes, as well as the difference between HTML and XHTML. In the next few steps, I learned about CSS rules, selectors, properties and values through the internet and various resources. As well as watching the "Video Resources," I studied the web accessibility guidelines and W3C standards. Next, I completed unit one of the Discussion Forum. During the discussion, the topic of data privacy in the digital age was fascinating to me. I have done some research regarding this topic, and I have learned that although we cannot completely prevent big companies from collecting our data, we can minimize the exposure of our personal information by using browsers like DuckDuckGo and deleting our search histories, preferences, etc. Afterward, I took part in the next task, which was "Programming Assignment Unit 1”. During my task, I used W3C's "Markup Validation Service" to scan three of the most popular websites on the web. Despite being maintained by very smart web developers, those websites had numerous flaws that I discovered as I went through those warnings and errors, and I learned how to avoid them in the future when building my own websites. Thanks to you for supporting my education and encouraging me, I was able to learn about the basics of the web this week. I appreciate your support and encouragement and I'm happy about the content I've learned thus far. References: MDM Developers. (2019, May 18) How the Web Works.
