I have learned that Material self pertains to the objects, places, or even people which have the label “mine”. Such possessions are viewed as extensions of individuals' identities. In our modern world, it is evident how people value material things more than the essences of life, in example family, friends and even peace of mind. People judge you by just looking at the brand of your clothes, and we are so engrossed with whether the shoes we are wearing are original or fake. The self is the manifestation of one’s identity through his material possessions. We are defined by the clothes we wear, our houses, cars and even our pets can serve as our identity. It indicates one’s social status and the more expensive and luxurious you possessions are the more people are impressed. We live in a materialistic society, but seriously, an excess of material goods does not bring the sort of long-term contentment, that genuine feeling of satisfaction and peace, that is the foundation for a happy life.

The material self is a total of all of the tangible things you own your possessions, your home, your body. As you examine your list of responses to the question, “Who are you?” note whether any of your statements refers to one of your physical attributes or something you own.It is fine whatever you wear, you don’t have to have expensive clothes to fit in in a group.
