From this graph we can see that the range of males and females are significantly different as the boxplot for males are larger meaning that males have a longer suspension. We can also see that the median of the suspension time for males is higher than that of females. Moreover, there are a few outliers for the suspension time for males. Question 2

a) The subject of Minard’s graph is Napoleon’s disastrous Russian campaign of 1812. b) There are six variables in total. - Number of troops - Temperature - Distance - Latitude and longitude - Direction of travel - Location relative to specific dates c) The good feature of this graph includes the attention to details especially the number of variables available which allow user to try to understand the graph. However, the bad feature is that the graph is too sophisticated which makes it hard to understand by the end users. d) A graphic method was used to prepare this graph. e) The graph is trying to show us the route of Napoleon’s Campaign into Russia in 1812. It is also trying to tell future users why the invasion failed and hope that future users can reflect on the mistakes made and make better decisions. f) I think that the model got a good rating from Tufte because the author judges the graph by design and the statistical data obtained from it. From the author’s point of view the graph is good as it has friendly graphics which attracts viewer attention and the words and timeline run from left to right to enable an easy viewing experience for users. g) The positive of a 3D version is that we can better understand the graph as it is interactive. However, a negative from a 3D graph is that some information from the graph is hard to perceive for example what the numbers mean under the model in December and what the units of the numbers are....
