Description

Jessenia Ambriz We the People Essay Questions 1. The Declaration of Independence and Constitution are very important to the United States and how we run our country. It is the foundation on what our democratic government is run on. The declaration of independence is important because it is written to give us our freedom from England. “In sum, the Declaration was viewed as abolishing the social contract with Great Britain and establishing a state of nature between two independent polities” (Barnett). The US Constitution is much shorted there our Declaration, but they can sum up and give the rules of our government significance. The Constitution was written so that way all the states and states to come would be able to come together as one nation. The constitution was able to bring more structure to America than any other form of documentation written at the time. Is gave us our freedom and really showed that we were ready to run a county. In the end the Declaration and the Constitution formed a very successful nation that we call The United States of America. 2. Being a part of “We the People” means to be a person in America. In the US Constitution when they say “We the People” they are referring to the Americans. Being an American citizen, we are given so many rights. The rights that we were given to us as American citizens are the freedom of speech, press and religion, the right to bear arms, the right to not have soldiers in a time of peace be quartered in one’s home, the right to be free from unreasonable search and seizures, the right to not be tried to the same crime twice, the right to a jury trial, protection from cruel punishments. These rights did not just come out of nowhere. Years were spent on them as we began to our independent journey as a country. Each of our right were made with the purpose to give us freedom and to make the United States of America the best country in the world.

Jessenia Ambriz 3. “American” has remained consistent throughout the year, but we have been able to grow and evolve over time. Americans have had to change with our society but being an American is still something to be proud of. In the early days of American it was a relief to be an American. Now it still is today but nowadays the people who are born here take it for granted. Just like the people evolved so did a lot of the original laws and regulations. America has continued to evolve day after day and that is something to be proud of. American now a day as “the land of the free”. It is an honor to be able to a citizen in a country where everyone is equal. There are a lot of people in other countries that try so hard to come to the US but have never made it over. With the way that voting has changed more people are allowed to vote than when the country was first established such as women and American Americans. At times the people who are allowed to vote do not take the opportunity to vote like they should. In the recent election that just passed I believe that more citizens came out to vote and voice their option on where they wanted to run the county. The United States is very divided right now with all the pandemic issues and political opinions. This is where we can see a back track in history, but we still see the huge growth that the United States has made since becoming its own country.
