Description

Describe the ways in which you communicate today. The ways in which I communicate today depend on who I am communicating with. For example, my dad passed away a couple years ago and since then I communicate with hi through prayer. Since my dad’s passing, my family doesn’t really talk much to each other anymore and because of that I usually communicate with my family by texting them, calling them, or commenting on their posts on social media. However, when I communicate with my boyfriend, my daughter or my friends it is mainly done through face-to-face communication. The way to communicate with someone has evolved so much over the years that there are multiple ways to communicate with others in the present.

Compare your communication today with how you communicated 10, 15, or 20 years ago. My commucation today is face-to-face or through text, calling or social media. Whereas, 10 years ago I was only nine years old and I didn’t have a cellphone so my communication 10 years ago was always face-to-face communication except when I had used my parent’s phones to call family who lived far away and communicated with them through calling. 15 years ago I was only four years old and the only communication I did was face-to-face communication.

Discuss how our interactions and expectations of others has changed over time. Our interactions with others has changed overtime because when I was a kid, me and my friends always spent our time outside, playing and talking to eachother face-to-face whereas now days, kids interact with other kids through cellphones or video games and

hardly ever get off of their video games to go outside and play like kids should. Even adults now days interact with their friends mostly through social media because when you have your own family, job, bills, and life you don’t have as much time to hang out with your friends. Our expectations of others has changed overtime because when I was a kid and kids didn’t have cellphones, we have chores to do, homework, do good in school etc. And when you did these things you got what my parents called “screen time” which is where you can watch cartoons that aren’t teaching shows or got to play a video game. Now days, kids aren’t expected to do chores much, they rarely go outside and play like kids should, they always play on video games, and kids now days have cellphones and social media accounts at 10 years old. 

Explain how the effectiveness of our communication has changed over time. The effectiveness of our communication has changed over time because years ago people mostly communicated face-to-face an not over cellphones which was pretty effective. However, now people mostly communicate through texting which isn’t as effective because things sent in a text message could be taken the wrong way, or read in the wrong tone of voice which is why most people rely on emoticons to get their emotion and message across to others.

Summarize how the new forms of language and abundant communication methods will affect our children, youth, and adolescents. The new forms of language and abundant communication methods will affect our children, youth, and adolescents because when our children get older and begin school

they may want a cellphone to communicate with their friends because their friends have cellphones when I surely won’t allow my daughter to have a cellphone until she it at least 13. Our children and youth will grow up never going outside like kids should and might not want to go to family functions anymore because they believe that they can just communicate with their friends and family through calling them, texting them, or getting ahold of them on social media....
