Lecture Week 2 Project Goals and Objectives SMART goals 

Specific You will need to identify what is it you want to accomplish. Answer who, what where, when, which questions. - Who needs to be involved to achieve the goal  Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Suicide Prevention Advisory Group  Minister of indigenous affairs  Stakeholders  Commonwealth governments - What are you trying to accomplish? GOALS 1. Provide greater suicide prevention awareness in the ATSI community by increasing knowledge of warning signs and risk factors 2. Promote and implement effective interventions and activities which increase protection from suicide risk, in the short and long term 3. Train health workers to better understand and identify signs of suicide, by implementing a holistic approach 4. Improve the structure of suicide screening process

Achievable What are the key skills or tools you will need to make the project work and if you don’t have the key skills or tools how will you get them.  Evidence based programs  Project management skills  Funding (provide information on the detrimental effects suicide)  Communication with stakeholders  Observation skills, understanding if the project needs tweaks
