What is your own definition of art? In this first week of the course, what do you think will be your strengths and weaknesses in studying Art History? Art When talking about art, there is no one solid definition of art many artists defined art based on their perception about art, that is they defined it based on the aspect they have been able to visualise or work on that are artistical in nature. My definition about art has been gathered by looking at videos describing art by various artist. To me I would define art as a system of communication between one’s imagination and the outside world. This definition is gotten from listening to other artist definition and then working on them or through the addition of two or more definitions. I said art is a system of communication because it helps to transfer information from the mind of the artist to other individuals that ends up viewing them. The word art was gotten from the word “ARS” meaning skills. Art is basically the act of using the various elements of art such as colour, texture, lines etc. to either convey a message or store information or it could be used to transfer information from the mind of the artist to the viewer. My strength When talking about my strength when it comes to art, I would say my strength is in my ability to convey messages from artistical objects easily. I can go into the artist mind to read the message his trying to portray via his or her drawings or sketches. I love art because it has been used by many individuals to help save cultures and events that has happened in the past. Therefore, my strength lies in my ability to read out the message in an artistical object or to con vey the thoughts of an artist right from his drawings or objects. My weakness My weakness lies in my ability to draw out an effective artistical object that others could read and reference it to a particular event. M My weakness lies in my ability to draw out an effective artistical object even if it is not that attractive.

I know art to be beyond beauty into the ability to convey message or the ability for an artist to try and bring his imagination into reality through artistical drawings with the use of the various art elements.
