Location and Connectivity:

What are the absolute and relative locations of the region or subregion you have selected? What is the connectivity of this region to others? A) When deciding on which of the 9 regions to choose from I decide to go with where I currently live. The southwest region is made of 8 states. The Absolute location of the Southwest runs through 36.7783° N, 119.4179° W to (31.9686° N, 99.9018° W). This region is located in the Southwestern part of the U.S. When it comes to relative location, it begins California to Colorado to south of the border of Mexico. B) The connectivity of the Southwest region is easily accessible and connected to the other 8 regions. Through flight, car, and bus. Traveling by foot is hard because things tend to be spread apart even in the cities. 2.

Physical Characteristics:

How would you describe the climate, physiography, landscape, and natural hazards of the region or subregion you have selected? Ensure you address at least three of the physical characteristics listed above for the purposes of this worksheet. A) The Southwest has a dry, humate climate. Giving the Southwest warm weather year- round. Having warmer weather causes natural hazards. The weather being warm and dry causes wildfires. This is also a nice part of the U.S. for people to escape from the colder weather. This region is home to three of beautiful landmarks the Grand Canyon, Rocky Mountains, Alamo, even the route 66. 3.

Human Characteristics:

What are the language families/groups, religions, races, and cultures of the region or subregion you have selected? What is the population density and economic development of the region or subregion? A) People in the southwest dominantly speak English, there are people who speak Spanish as well. When it comes to religion in the Southwest there are a mixture of Protestants, and other non-Mormon, nonCatholic Christians. The Southwest is has a mix of both rural and urban areas. B) While the Southwest has both rural and urban areas have one of the higher density of populations. Giving the Southwest a sustained economic growth. It has been able to keep this growth with both oil and natural gas. 4.

Human/Environmental Interactions:

How do the physical and human characteristics interact to produce notable observations of the landscape in the region or subregion you have selected? A) The low land and labor cost have both played a key role and helping with the business growth. Where there is business growth there comes population growth. All 8 of the states in the Southwest contribute to the notable observations of the landscape. Where it is bringing people, building, and even farming the land. All take apart into changing the land. 5.

Movement:

With how much ease and ability do ideas, goods, and people flow in and out of the region or subregion you have selected? What drives this movement? A) The vast growth of the land has made it easy to have ideas, goods, and people flow through with ease. The ability to make connections to other states and regions have made this possible. The way things are growing it provides things such as jobs. Jobs always makes it easier for people to get up and relocate even if it means starting over. B) There is so much under develop land in the southwest that it makes it easier for growth. Growth with both company’s and families....
