WRITING A REVIEW: “EL DÍA QUE SE PERDIÓ LA CORDURA” Last summer I read a really nice and interesting book. The title was “El día que se perdió la cordura” and was written by Javier Castillo, a Spanish writer. He created a romantic thriller narrated in three times. This book, explores the limits of the human being breaking with the schemes of the suspense genre. This novel made me think, investigate, doubt myself and even doubt my sanity. The story puts us in Boston the 24 of December 2013, a day that should be loaded with happiness thanks to the Christmas holidays, but that becomes a hell when a man appears naked, covered in blood and with the head of a young woman in his hands. The decapitator will be the nickname that the press gives to this man who is immediately locked in a psychiatric center where Dr. Jenkins, director of the city's psychiatric center, and Stella Hyden, a FBI agent, will try to give light to what has just happened. What I liked most was the beginning of the book, since the author gets you hooked on reading. Another strong point for me has been the short chapters, allowing me a quick read. The half-ends that leave you with the intrigue of what was going to happen were also superb. What I liked least has been that the love story, although it was youthful, did not seem credible to me. It was an easy-to-read novel, entertaining and with quite good intrigue moments. Anyone who likes the suspense genre will really enjoy this book.
