Mathematics Association of Nairobi University (M.A.N.U) is an organization established by the students of Mathematics in the College of Biological and Physical Sciences in liaison with the School of Mathematics, Faculty of Science. It was formed with an aim of ensuring that Mathematics students attain recognition and are absorbed into the job market. The Vision of M.A.N.U is “Developing and integrating Mathematics into the corporate world.” The club’s Mission is “Marketing and promoting Mathematics for global attention; Inducing positive attitude towards Mathematics and encouraging academic excellence through its activities.” The objectives of the club are: Promoting academic excellence by providing members with relevant study materials such as past papers and tutorials, as well as useful hints on how to achieve the best in academics; and Promoting and enhancing the stability of individual career by linking members to the job market through attachment program provided by the Association. Any student in the University of Nairobi, undergraduate or postgraduate, who is passionate about Mathematics, is eligible for membership. Membership fee is Kshs.200 and the annual membership renewal fee is Kshs.100. Every member of the club is entitled to a certificate of membership upon completion of their academic stay in the University. The organs of M.A.N.U are: The Chairperson, The Secretariat, The Editorial Board, The Academic Board and the Finance Board. The office bearers of M.A.N.U are: The Chairperson, The Vice Chairperson, The Secretary General, The Organizing Secretary, The Publicity Secretary, The Treasurer, The Auditor General, The Year Representatives (I, II, III and IV) , The Main Campus Representative and The Kikuyu Campus Representative. The office is dissolved within one academic year and all office bearers elected by the club members. The current patron of M.A.N.U is Dr. Hudson Were and the assistant patrons are Dr. James Katende and Dr. Jared Ongaro, all members of the teaching staff of the University of Nairobi. M.A.N.U derives its funds from membership and renewal fees from members, donations and grants, and loans, proceeds and interests accruing from the assets of the organization. M.A.N.U organizes a calendar of events for every academic year anually. These events are majorly aimed at meeting the objectives of the club.
