Description

Zoo Essay If you wer were e an animal, and you wer were e forced to be put in a pen full of unusual resour resources ces inside of it that you had n no o idea how to use or what it is, what woul would d you like? In Sourc Source e 2 “The Sad, Sad truth Abou Aboutt Zoos” it explains how animals in zoos are not used to compact pens an and d temper temperature ature change.

Instead of keeping them in

cages to learn about them, wouldn’t be smarter to learn about them wher where e they actually live? Anyway Anyway,, we already have television show shows s located where their actually habitat is. One ar argument gument against zoos is how animals have compact space in a pen where they become bor bored, ed, unhappy unhappy,, and stresse stressed d out because they don’t get to do as much in the pens as they did in the wild.

As stated in the article “It is nearly

impossible to fully recre recrea ate a natural habitat, and nothing compares to the wild.” If an animal was taken fr from om a different continent and taken to a zoo in another continent, they most likely wouldn’t be able to gr grow ow the tr trees ees or food like their everyday diet it might be har hard d to change their food. A lot of animals in pens travel long distances every day and in the space they have in zoos they bar barely ely can tr travel avel a couple of acres of land. “F “For or example, elephants in the wild are able to walk as many as 30 miles a day day...”. ...”. In that example it shows how less they can travel in a limited amount of space. All they can do is pace back and forth in a compact space. Another ar argument gument is how the temperatur temperature e is in a zoo.

For example, if

elephant lived in a far away place like Asia, then taken to America, there would be a way different temperatur temperature e to adapt to.

It is very difficult to keep the same

temperatur temperature e constantly in a different continent. Many animals are used to certain temperatur temperatures es that they ar are e only comfortable to. In conclusion, I think anim anima als should only be held captive if they’re ill, rrecover ecover ecovering ing or endangered for br breeding. eeding. This is a way zoos can be better and more efficient if they do this and mor more e likely people will donate to them....
