Popular Sovereignty Popular sovereignty was the idea that power and government came and are directed by the people. They were said to choose and decide how they want their government to work, which has them decide as a whole pretty much of what they want their country to look like. The Declaration of Independence was their way of getting Britain from telling them what to do. Which makes sense because the whole point is for them to gain freedom and stability.

The declaration of Independence The Declaration of Independence was a written article that was created for the sole purpose of colonist wanting to regain their freedom from King George. The colonists were fed up with being taken advantage of with the strict laws and taxes. This document was approved on July 4th, 1776, which was written by Thomas Jefferson. The first part talks about it’s intentions, the second part speaks about the government and their failures, and third and last part of the Declaration of Independence speaks of the actual Declaration of change for everyone in the United States of America.
