When I take a step back and really get the larger picture, I have dozens of systems in my everyday life, such as making my bed, taking a shower, making coffee, etc. Each of these systems are defined by the interdependence of each of the steps you take in the process of completing these everyday tasks. In my chosen system of making a cup of coffee, the purpose of it is to help jumpstart my day so I can partake in other systems directly following this one and to give my a boost in productivity and awareness as I wake up and get ready for the day ahead of me. As I start to take the systems thinking approach to brewing myself a cup of coffee, I would firstly start by getting out of my bed and heading straight for the kitchen to turn on my Keurig. The simple diagram below shows the system of making coffee.

The diagram above shows the system I use for making a cup of coffee in the morning. This can be labeled as a system because every node relies on each other for it to have a successful outcome. There are no major feedback loops in this system unless the Keurig machine decides to fail, or if there are no K-cups to be added into the Keurig....
