My Introduction of a Successful Company of choice is Southwest Airlines. They are number one in our Nation’s airline industry. Southwest Airlines is the largest US passenger carrier with the lowest fares, open seating, no additional fees, and excellent customer service. Southwest Airline has been profitable every year since 1973. It has never had a layoff and it has never cut employee salaries. It is also the best paid and most highly unionized airline in the industry. Mission and Vision Statement Southwest Airlines mission statement “Dedication to the highest quality of Customer Service delivered with a sense of warmth, friendliness, individual pride, and Company Spirit”(Evans, 2019). To assure their mission, the company has supplied bountiful perks as a way of providing customer service by offering Inflight Entertainment and WiFi, by using the “airplane mode” on electronic devices. The company also offers early bird check in on the convenience of your device. By offering these perks and many more others, the company has provided the ultimate customer service to their passengers daily. Southwest Airlines vision statement “To be the world's most loved, most efficient, and most profitable airline”, which they have proven time and time again. Fundamental Principles of Management At Southwest, their purpose is satisfaction, “so you put your employees first, and you take care of them, then will take good care of your customers then your customers will come back and your shareholders will like that, it's really a unity” (Herb Kelleher, Chairman of Southwest). Their belief is having a “sustainable future where there will be a balance in our business model between shareholders, employees, customers, and other stakeholders. To protect our world for future generations and uphold our commitments, we will remain focused on sustaining our

unmatched probability record in the industry, efficiency that conserves natural resources, fostering a creative and innovative workforce, and giving back to the communities in which we work and live” (Southwest, 2021). If Southwest Airlines continues treating their customers like family, with lower fare prices than its competitors, they will continue to be successful for many future years to come.
