Space Mining and Exploration: Facing a Pivotal Movement While reading the article “Space Mining and Exploration: Facing a Pivotal Movement” author Todd Skauge I found that while reading “Antarctica: An Alternative Approach” and “The Privatization of Space'' were the easiest because they didn’t have as many acronyms as the rest. While reading they all get mixed up and I end up having to reread the passages above to find out what they all mean again just so I can keep reading and hope to continue understanding what I just read before I had to go back to remember what the acronym meant. The two passages were also pretty easy to understand and know what point they were trying to make. The passages I found most difficult for me were “The Outer Space Treaty” and “The Moon Treaty”. These two were the most difficult because you have to remember what the Magna Carta is and The Common Heritage of Mankind, and if you don’t you have to do some research so that you can better understand what the passage is trying to tell you. The concept of the article that was a challenge to understand was that the “Moon Treaty” states that it failed to get support from the United States, Russia, and China but then the United States joined in 2018 but there were critics and they withdrew. What made them want to join after not joining the first time. I understand why they withdrew from it but it doesn’t state why they joined. For me, the hardest to understand in this article was the fact that “Antarctica’s resources are not overseen by a singular governing body” (Skauge, p.821) but the treaty has divided members into consultative and non-consultative parties. The consultative party can participate in decision-making and the non-consultative party can not because they have not “complied with the demonstrated interest test” (Skauge, p.821) I wonder what the test includes and what makes them uncompiled with it. The main idea of the article is to
