As an Organizational Consultant my services have been requested to evaluate the reason why productivity is dropping at SNHU Pet Supply Company. After reviewing some daily activities with employees at the company, I believe I may have found some ways to raise productivity within the company. For a company to strive, employees need to feel confident in their daily work activities. Every day the manager will send out a Task List that needs to match the employees detailed Time Card. If for some reason both do not match, the employee must send a detailed email as to why there is a discrepancy. According to Greek Wire (2015) “There are many ways to manage an organization to ensure it is running efficiently. A number of different types of managers can be found in organizations. Top managers are responsible for developing the organization’s strategy and acting as a steward for its vision and mission. An example can be found in Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, who has declared his mission to “empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more.” [1] The four functions of management include planning, organizing, leading, and controlling (the P-O-L-C framework). When carried out correctly, they can be very effective when working with employees. Therefore, I believe management needs to revisit the current implemented policy and update it to ensure that it works for all employees and managers. As part of the P-O-L-C Framework I think Controlling would be the appropriate course of action for this company. While reading Managing and Leading in Business by Soomo Learning (2020) “Controlling involves ensuring that performance does not deviate from expected standards. Controlling consists of three steps, which include (1) establishing performance standards, (2) comparing actual performance against standards, and (3) taking corrective action when necessary. Performance standards are often given in monetary terms such as revenue, costs, or profits, but

other terms may also be used, such as units produced, number of defective products, or level of quality or customer service.” [2] The managers are currently following company protocol that has not been updated in a long time, but with technology today there is a much better way to ensure that talks are being completed daily with your employees feeling like they are making a difference.
