Description

2.06 Analysis Paragraph OneThroughout the story Enrique went through a lot of scary and hard situations that sadly more kids and people than we would imagine face. The resolution of the plot in Enrique’s Journey was revealed when Enrique was finally able to find his mother and reunite with her. There were also many human rights issues that were presented throughout the story where people suffered with poverty, rape, immigrating for a better life somewhere else. When reading the story, the author wanted the people who read her book to see the hardships that immigrants like Enrique go through everyday just to go to another country to start a better life and be more successful, or in Enrique’s case find his mom. Paragraph TwoThe author’s diction and characterization indicate that she wrote this story to inform others of how hard it was for immigrants going to the United States, or other countries in general because they can get caught and then their progress of getting a new or better life starts all over again. This is shown when the author says “Near Tierra Blanca, a small town in Veracruz state, authorities snatch them from the top of a freight car. The officers take them to a cell filled with MS gangsters, then deport them.” This shows that some get caught while trying to make their way across the border in hopes of a better life. Another example where the author shows difficulties of crossing the border is “They set out with little or no money… Since the 1990s, Mexico and the United States have tried to thwart them. To evade Mexican police and immigration authorities, the children jump on and off the moving train cars. Sometimes they fall, and the wheels tear them apart… Often, they don’t know where or when they’ll get their next meal. Some go days without eating.” This shows the struggles of poverty, starvation, and immigration that the immigrants that made it to the United States and other countries went through just like Enrique went through similar hardships....
