Description

1. When looking at one of the other techniques that was used to help keep the participants honest would be using surprising terms to catch them off guard and give honest answers. They would also ask direct questions and explicit terms instead of using terms that people may normally use to sugarcoat things to make it easier to deny. I think that this would be effective to a degree, but someone could still deny it even with being caught off guard. I think that it would work for some people although. 2. When looking at the two studies and their results, the Kinsey data showed that men would engage in sexual immoral acts more than women. Also, the more education a person had the more sexual acts were participated, which would make them older (pg.9). This compares to the Gesselman findings which that more people are sexually inexperienced, but it was also a younger age group, so this would make sense that they are more inexperienced. There is also more pressure on men to have sex at a younger age than women, so they might be losing their virginity sooner 3. When looking at how the Kinsey findings would be different than they would today, there are a few factors that would change. For instance, the Kinsey article mentions illegal sexual acts, such as being homosexual or oral sex (pg.9). In modern times these things are more normalized and not seen as illegal to people. I think also people are more open to talking about sex and sexual acts more (pg.14). In society these views have expanded and have been popularized by the media and other sources where people can see them more often (pg.14). I think today that if the same finding would have come out, then there would be public outcry that it is discrimination, which it is towards sexual preference. There is still a stigma within society to have sex and it is getting more and more common to have sex before marriage (pg.14). Within society, I think people will always judge what other people do in their life, even though it may not matter to them. Gesselman also comes to the conclusion that there is a stigma and that it can influence how others see you. It is important to not have a bias towards what other people do in their life....
