HIS-100: 3.2.1 Discussion: Historical Lenses: In this discussion, you will consider how historical lenses can affect the study of a historical topic. Select one of the secondary source articles from your research. After reading that article, write a discussion post about which of the following lenses you believe the article is using: social, political, economic, or other. Use at least two quotes from your source to justify your choice of lens. Your post title should also indicate which topic you have selected. When responding to your peers, compare and contrast the lens they identified with the lens you identified for your source. If you identified the same lens, how does the evidence you each found to justify that choice compare with each other? If you selected different lenses, discuss how your historical topic might look through the lens they identified The secondary article I chose is Liberty’s Blueprint: How Madison and Hamilton Wrote the Federalist Papers, Defined the Constitution, and Made Democracy Safe for the World. I believe this to mainly encompass Political Lenses while sharing tones of Social Lenses. Social lenses dive into people and their interactions with others. A great example of this is in chapter 10: The Greatest of all Reflections on Human Nature. This chapter discusses how most people react with passion and interest rather than reason in the social environment (M. Meyerson, 2008). Political lenses no only focus on politicians and government, but also the relationships of those who have power and those who do not. In this article they discuss the greatest threat to the future of the United States, being the government’s potential to become corrupt and seize more and more power until it’s tyrannical rule completely dominated the people (M. Meyerson, 2008). It is important to remember that sources can encompass multiple lenses, not just one. While many individuals have chosen this topic, most have only focused on there being one lens. Meyerson, M. (2009). Liberty's blueprint: How madison and hamilton wrote the federalist papers, defined the constitution, and made democracy s.
