DSM PROVISIONAL DIAGNOSIS Generalized Anxiety Disorder

Treating Client B- Generalized Anxiety Disorder 1. Client B is suffering from Generalized Anxiety Disorder. Because she is still in high school, a psychotherapeutic approach should be taken, as she is not yet a legal adult. She has difficulty breathing and chest tightness, but these symptoms will likely subside as she manages her anxiety. Client B should be given options for finding a psychologist who can help coach her

through her anxiety while also keeping her comfortable so that it does not trigger it. She should meet at least three times per week, before or after school, if her schedule allows. 2. Once Client B has found a psychologist with whom she is comfortable and who meets her financial and certification requirements, she should contact them on a regular basis with concerns about her symptoms and a description of what triggers her anxiety. The psychologist should assist her in coaching her through these scenarios in order to reduce panicked reactions and allow her to take logical steps forward. This way, she can improve her personal life while also continuing her academic career. The psychologist and her family must be supportive and assist her in resolving issues so that her anxiety does not interfere with her daily activities. If this treatment is effective, it should be continued.
