Are there times when it is okay to conduct unethical research studies if they benefit the health of a larger population? How do you balance the greater good of the community with the rights of an individual? I do not believe there are times when it okay to conduct unethical research studies even if they are benefiting the health of a larger population. There was a reason why the Belmont report was put into place, which states that for research to be ethical it must have: respect for persons, beneficence, and justice. I think that in research study, especially experimental studies, that ethics needs to be held in the upmost regards. I think that our minds and bodies are fragile and need to be protects when being researched. In my opinion it is not ethical to harm one person in order to benefit a larger population, no matter what the case may be....
