7-2 Discussion: Implementing Multiple Revision Strategies

The first step of my revision process for my critical analysis essay of Andrew Braaksma’s Some Lessons from The Assembly Line will be to let my essay sit aside for a couple of days. During this time, I will not pay any attention to it. I must allow myself to take some time away from my essay to look at it with a set of fresh eyes. I have printed out a hard copy of my writing to read over and help me find any mistakes. Rereading my essay after letting it sit for a couple of days, I believe it will help me find any sentence structure or grammar errors that I may have missed earlier. The second step of my revision process will be to read my essay out loud to myself. Reading my essay aloud to myself will help me keep my thoughts on the right track. I will use this revision process to listen for any sentence structure changes or wording that may need to be corrected. My final step in my revision process will be to have both my wife and daughter read over my work and do a peer review. Once I have completed the first two steps of my revision process, I believe having two people from different careers reading my essay will benefit my writing and myself. I think both my wife and daughter will give me a valuable review and not worry about hurting my feelings. I chose to use two people so that I can get varying critiques of my essay. Since neither of them has read Some Lessons from The Assembly Line by Andrew Braaksma, it will benefit my essay even more since neither of them knows the original work....
