Clark 11 James Clark Doctor Andrews Speech 105 17 November 2020 The Story of Microfibers There are many things that are affecting our earth, ocean and environments today. Main things that cause these ocean pollutions to happen would be of course the plastics that have not only been a problem in our earth for many of years but is an even bigger problem and can affect our society heavy in the future. Yes, Plastic is the main problem but there are different sections that are broken down which makes this topic. One main topic that is forsure a problem today would be the microfibers in which we all have and consume in our body today. Today, I will be breaking down Monroes sequence and how the video explains it using this method. The first step would be the attention just like any speech and how the video is trying to get the reader or listeners attention. This specific video did a good job of introducing the main topic by asking the listeners a question that most people wouldn’t be educated on if they aren’t aware of this problem. It can get someone's attention that wouldn’t know what the word “Polyester” means so they can get informed and how it can relate to the video by starting the persuasion off that way. I like this video in terms of this assignment because it gets straight to the point whereas the other video has Monroe's sequence not in the same order just to make the video more interesting like that. The second part of Monroes sequence was that it was discussing the need and it broke down a slight minor issue and how it is happening today. The video states for the

Clark 12 need that it happens because of all the companies that have been using polyester to make their products like the main thing, which is what we use every day, clothes. This is just the beginning of a minor problem that can lead to the person explaining about the main issue in just a bit. The third and main part in my opinion of Monroes sequence that is told would be known as the solution on the topic or what you can do in terms of the satisfaction. The satisfaction in this video would be multiple steps rather than just 1 which isn't a full guarantee that it would work. One main solution that would be important for this topic would be the first example which is why its first in the first place. It says to wash your clothes less and I think that’s a big step for not only take the risk of sending microfibers in the ocean but also saving water for your water bill. The other solution or satisfaction would be involving the companies that would be making the clothes that we put on every day. This specific video didn’t really discuss part 4 of Monroes sequence, however they did present it in front of you to see what it would look like. This means they did the fourth step which would be known as visual. What the video presented for this video for it to be visual would be showing how the oceans would look without any microfibers if we just stuck to the solutions that were proposed. It showed the fishes and how they wouldn’t be eating any of the fibers presented in front of them that would not only cause them but also us harm. It also did a visual presentation of the companies getting back to the drawing boards to solve a new solution in order to help prevent this crisis. The last and final step in Monroes sequence would be the taking action in terms of the solution to the problem. This one was straight forward as there was only one way of taking action which is what I talked about already. They made it into a visual which is Monroes fourth

Clark 13 step. The action would be to not wash your clothes that much in order for less microfibers to be sent down the drain and risk being put in the ocean to affect it. In Conclusion, this presentation was very informative and persuasive. It did indeed use all of Monroes steps in which I have presented. Overall, this topic was to persuade the audience on not only the importance of ocean pollution involving plastic, but the fundamentals of the aspect which involves the minor problems including what the whole video was about, microfibers. It discussed all the fundamentals of the problem while also at the same time. The steps involved that were in Monroes sequence was the Attention, Need, Solution, Visualization, Action....
