Global Business: Opportunities and Challenges (IKEA) IKEA, a multi-national furniture giant in today’s market was founded by a 17year-old Ingvar Kamprad in Sweden. Furniture, kitchen appliances and home accessories are designed, manufactured and sold by the company. IKEA is also known as the largest retailer of furniture in the world, specializing in designed furniture that is stylish and ideally priced. 422 stores are operated by IKEA in more than 50 markets. Almost 70% of the stores are based in Europe (Forbes, 2021). IKEA has had a brilliant global strategy, as a company has made a lot of efforts to expand globally, access major markets in multiple continents and to sell their products around the world. IKEA is also making efforts for the environment by using various techniques such as phasing out single use plastic and by committing to generate clean energy via solar panels on their stores.
