UNIVERSITYOF HERTFORDSHIRE School of Engineering and Technology ASSIGNMENT BRIEF Students, you should delete this section before submitting your work. This Assignment assesses the following module Learning Outcomes (Take these from the module DMD):

1. Specify hardware and software requirements for embedded mechatronic systems 4. Test and evaluate hardware used in embedded mechatronic systems Assignment Brief: Please submit a report describing your project process and outcome using the format described below. Submission Requirements: Report max 20 pages long (excluding references and appendices). This assignment is worth 40 % of the overall assessment for this module. Marks awarded for:

Introduction and presentation (10%): Introduction detailing the purpose of this report. Presentation: The tone of the report should be formal ie. third person passive …”this was done.” and should be fully referenced using a standard referencing convention. Chapters and sections should be numbered and there should be a contents list. All tables and figures should have a number and title and the reader should be referred to each one in the text before it appears. Short sections of code under consideration should appear in the text to minimise page-turning but the whole program should be included in the appendices (with referenced parts clearly indicated).

Design (20%): Detailed description of the design process and outcome. You can structure this as you see fit to include discussion of the hardware and software parts. Include, where possible, justifications to support design choices made.

Implementation (20%): A detailed discussion of the implementation presented with a narrative ark rather than as a series of logbook entries. You can structure this as you see fit to include discussion of the hardware and software parts and integration of the two.

Testing (10%): Gather together the procedures you have used to test at the various stages and present as a whole, including the outcome of each test. Numbered sections will allow you to refer back to specific results in the discussion section. Discussion of results (20%): Explain what performance has been achieved including key successes, limitations and constraints. Critical Evaluation (20%): Critically evaluate the project process and outcome. A note to the Students: 1.

For undergraduate modules, a score above 40% represent a pass performance at honours level.
