8-1 Discussion: Ending Violence 1 Good evening everyone, Unfortunately, our country was built on a form of violence. Some violence is for good in some people’s eyes. But everyone has different views on every situation. The old saying there are two sides to every story. That is what concerns me about the media. They do not always show both sides to the story. I do not think the media should be censored. That would not be right they have the freedom to speak their mind as well. But sometimes I think they should take a step back and think before they report. Not everything is black and white. Sometimes the media reports about the person that throws the first punch but what they do not know is the emotional stress that was brought to that situation for someone to throw the first punch. It is often you hear that someone a victim of a violent crime had no involvement in the incident. I do believe the media should show better in the world than the bad. But you know they say drama sells. So, my question is the media in the business to report all the news with all the facts or to promote rating even if they stretch the truth or keep some information private for their benefit. Media today is not like the media from 50 years ago. Back in the day yes there was wars, and everyone knew about it. But there are so many problems that we never would have known about. For example, I was just watching the news and heard about a condo building in Florida that collapsed. Now I am feeling sad for the people that are missing and lost their homes. Now by feeling sad I have gone from having a day that was a 10 now I am down to a 7. Then if I hear more, I could be at a 5 before I even go to work. The media influences the mood of a lot of people so I do not believe they should be censored but I do believe they should be responsible for making the day brighter more often than dark.

It was great to learn with all of you in this class. I wish you the best on your journey here at SNHU Have a great day Jesse

8-1 Discussion: Ending Violence 2 good evening Odell, I agree with you about the media not being censored and the other ways kids see violence with video games. But about the media being true. well, that I do not completely agree with you. I have some friends that work in the news department and they have told me that some of the media is stretched to bring in more viewers. So if they can leave out some information I believe that should be censored. or at least made to also provide good news. not always just depressed bad and violent news. Great post I enjoyed your view. Have a great night Jesse

Good evening Natasha, I am not so sure If I agree with your view on the sensory of media, I do believe it has caused more harm than good allowing kids to know more about the violence going on in the world. On the other side, I do believe and agree very strongly about the parents needing to pay more attention to the warning signs of the children. If the parents would pay more attention to what their kids are watching they might be able to see the signs and stop some of the violence being put on the news. I believe we all need to do our part to censor the information the kids receive. Have a great night Jesse...
