Student instructions: (Links to an external site.) Research online for an article from an online newspaper or reliable website the following concepts using the keywords: rules of etiquette, polite behavior abroad, types of etiquette. Read the following article and analyze: Rigg, A. (2013). Weird and wacky etiquette from around the world. Student Flights. Retrieved on May 2018 from: https://www.studentflights.com.au/travel-mag/2013/04/weirdand-wacky-etiquette-from-around-the-world (Links to an external site.) 2. After reading both your findings and the suggested article, answer:

1.

What rule of etiquette did you find more interesting? I think the article that gave us the activity was more interesting than the one I found, since the one I saw was very well known all those rules.

Write an etiquette rule from Mexico that is similar to the ones mentioned in the article. I think eye contact is very similar here in Mexico as it can make you a little uncomfortable or as the article says, look suspicious.

Write an etiquette rule from Mexico that is opposite to the ones mentioned in the article. I think that not eating with a fork is very strange, as well as wearing national costumes. Caressing your hair in Mexico is not frowned upon, it's like a gesture of affection even though many people don't like it.

 Write 5 sentences summarizing the article using the modal verbs seen in class. Write the modal verb + main verb in bold. 1. In Thailand you can't eat with a fork. 2. People in Scotland should wear more underwear. 3. People from Russia can give a kiss and it means several things. 4. People in India most use more utensils when eating, as it can be unhygienic. 5. Eye contact in Italy can be used all over the world. For example: In Scotland you can wear a kilt without underwear.  Do research about interesting/unusual traditions from a country of your choice. Write a 100 words essay where you describe their unique manners and traditions. Don't forget to use modal verbs. I researched the culture of Japan. In Japan you have to take off your shoes when you enter a house. In Japan, they can't eat on the street because it's frowned upon. There are no street names either and I think that's a problem. They should have one since a person can get lost. In Japan you must be very respectful of people. It's very common for people in Japan to eat with chopsticks. Don’t worry if you can’t remember all of these etiquette tips. Japanese people are extremely understanding, and realize that most travelers are simply not aware of all of their customs....
