adolescent idealism...

Description

adolescent idealism: Adolescents speak up about controversial topics like politics, identity and religion. In my early adolescence I often encountered myself in the middle of discussions about religion. personal fable: is a belief held by many adolescents telling them that they are special and unique, When I was younger I always thought that I had an innate talent for acting and I was going to be a very famous actress imaginary audience: imaginary audience refers to a state where an individual imagines and believes that multitudes of people are enthusiastically listening to or watching him or her. This still happens to me nowadays, when I walk by people and hear them laughing I can’t help it but think they are laughing at me. adolescent criticism: Teenagers criticize the world according to their own tastes and preferences. For me if someone didn’t listen to the same music I did I used to think they were weird and boring. My emerging adulthood is still taking place. I’ve come to learn that people are not paying that much attention to what you do or think. I had to put me feet on the ground and start planning towards a more stable and certain future. The imaginary audience still affects me a little when I don’t feel confident of my skills and I feel like everyone is making fun of me. I’ve also learned to seek for advice in people more experienced than me. I think that other aspects of cognitive development like adolescent criticism are still present in people of 20-29 years that think everyone needs to share their preferences on politics and religion. I agree with what you said about imaginary audience and adolescent criticism. Some people like yourself don’t experience the imaginary audience as a negative thing, for almost everyone this is an experience were they feel out of place and inferior, but for you it probably helped you grow up to be a more confident and secure person. Also the fact that you think people want to do better than you can impact you positively given that it can push you to give the best of yourself at everything you do....
