*** Assignment*** APA Style --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------As you have noticed, psychology textbooks and research articles use a very formal, specific way of citing the works of various researchers. These are called “references” which give you information about the authors and other details of where this research work can be found. American Psychological Association (APA) style of reference citing and listing is the standard for all researchers who publish their work in books and peer-reviewed journals. You see this style of reference citation in the main text of a research article or a book, as well as at the end as a reference list. 

Main Text reference citation Example: “In an experiment, Rosenhan (1973) demonstrated how normal individuals who faked psychiatric symptoms got admitted into a hospital and then got diagnosed with a psychiatric illness labels.”

Rosenhan is the last name of the researcher and 1973 was the year when his study was published. You will then see the same reference with more details under the “References” which is a list at the back of a textbook or at the end of a research article. 

Reference List Example: Rosenhan, D. (1973). On being sane in insane places. Science, 179, 250-258

Here you see the title of his paper (Being sane in insane places), the name of the journal (Science), volume number (179) and pages (179-250) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------In this assignment you will learn some basic APA style formatting (see PowerPoint file posted) and then complete the assignment * Use the following (next page) to fill in your assigned tasks. * Rename the file including your name; e.g., if your name is Bill Gates, name your file “APA-BillGates” * Submit this renamed completed assignment file on the Blackboard link.
