Description

Eddie Hyatt Rough Draft Argumentative Essay Topic: Abolition of Standardized Tests

Position: There should be no standardized testing in high school nor college.

Point 1: An SAT/ACT score may not accurately describe the aptitude of a student and how well he/she would do in college.

Point 2: Standardized tests can spoil a student’s high GPA if he/she does not perform well on the tests

Point 3: Standardized tests are not a great indicator of what a student has learned in high school or in college.

Thesis statement: Standardized tests should be abolished from schools across the United States because they are a poor indicator of how well a student would perform in college, what a student has learned in high school or college, and they can spoil a student’s high GPA and lower their chance of matriculating to any college.

As a student, did standardized testing help or hurt you? Was it like being thrown into a lake without a life jacket? Standardized testing is not sufficient. They are a poor indicator of well a

student would perform in college, what a student has learned in high school or college, and it can spoil a student’s high GPA and lower their chance of matriculating to any college or graduate school....
