Questions Q1: Which foods were considered rich in a nutrient or very low? Dairy products, such as skimmed milk and cheese were considered very rich in calcium, while water and tea were considered low in many nutrients. Foods such as the cannelloni and Napoli sauce were very rich in sodium. Q2: Compare your nutrient analysis of the sample meal plan with the respective NRVs (https://www.nrv.gov.au/nutrients). Which nutrients are below the RDI/AI? Using an adult 19-30 y/o women: Calcium – (1000mg/day) deficient Iron (19mg/day) deficient Sodium (460-920mg/day) – sufficient a little excess Protein (46g/day) – deficient Fibre (25g/day) – very deficient Water (2100ml a day) – deficient

With your knowledge on quantifying number of serves of food groups (Australian Dietary Guidelines from week 3’s tutorial) and nutrients (Australian Food Composition Database + Nutrient Reference Values) you are now ready to start your dietary analysis report! Instructions are already up, with resources including referencing guides and short videos to help. These are found under the “Dietary Analysis Report” section of the “Modules” tab. Questions can also be asked through the ‘dietary assignment discussion board’. Please make the most of all these resources we provide for you. Here’s something to think about for now: Q3. In terms of food groups, and the nutrients listed in this activity, make a prediction about the quality of your diet, with reasons (keep it short: 5 sentences or less).

I think the quality of my diet is very poor, especially seeing as I considered this meal plan reasonably healthy. If someone is eating oats and bananas and spinach and still being deficient in almost every nutrient, then someone like me is likely to be also deficient in every nutrient except sodium....
