Both Handel and Bach were blind towards the end of their life. 4. Both Bach and Handel were operated on by the same eye surgeon, yet neither were able to benefit from the surgery. 5. Both ended up being very well known Baroque composers. Differences 1. Handel lived approximately nine years longer than Bach. 2. Handel was the first musician to have a biography. 3. Johann Sebastian Bach wrote two books: The Well- Tempered Clavier, and the art of Fugue. 4. Bach was able to be married and had a large number of children whereas Handel swore to abstinence. 5. Handel had to secretly study music (up in his attic with a keyboard) because he knew his father would not approve. It was not until his father’s death that he was able to go out and openly study music....
