Description

Description: In the workshop 10 of the module, on August 22, I took the big five personality test and the results indicated the main trait of my personality as conscientiousness (62). The second highest score was in openness to experience (51), followed by agreeableness (46), extraversion (34) and natural reaction (31). However, all of my scores fall in the middle range (30%>70%).

Feelings and evaluation I felt like I discovered something I had been seeking for quite a while as these scores uncovered a very important aspect of my personality. My top trait is conscientiousness which indicates that I am disciplined, well organized, and conscientious and like precise details. Moreover, it indicates a strong sense of duty as well. For instance, when I get assigned some work, I consider it my important duty and focus completely on it until I get it accomplished. My next top trait, openness to experience indicates that I am open minded, experimental, creative and imaginative in solving problems. My next trait agreeableness has a score of 46 that illustrates that I am compassionate to some degree and prefer co-operation over conflict. My score for extraversion is 34 which is low. It shows that majority of the times, I prefer to remain reserved and prefer working alone. And finally the last trait natural reaction has a low score demonstrating resilience, calmness and equanimity. After reflecting on this activity, I realized that I am disciplined and well organized and sometimes focus too much on details which will help me in my project management role as being well-disciplined would help me get things done on time. However, project management does not involve only the project manager. I will also have to manage and lead my team. This leads us to the low score in extraversion. Although I considered myself fairly extraverted before taking the assessment, the score revealed that I lack the ability to effectively work in teams most of the times.

Conclusion From this reflection, I have reached the conclusion that I have to work on enhancing my extraversion by engaging in different activates so that I can lead my teams the best way possible in the future.

Action Through becoming aware of my weaknesses, I will be able to devise strategies to improve in those areas to manage my teams effectively. My action plan will involve engaging in social events, taking classes in public speaking through joining a rotary club and through constantly monitoring my progress while taking corrective actions along the way....
