INTRODUCTION In this day and age, it is undeniable that business play a very important role especially in consolidating the nations strength by fueling our past economic recoveries. Therefore, there are countless of business being proposed and carried out among our society in order to keep the growth of economy. Along with this outstanding insights and ideas that become much better as time goes by, business model canvas have been introduced widely and have become a part of strategies to interpret and value one’s ideas into real business.

To introduce more about this topic, business model canvas can be defined as a strategic management and lean startup template for establishing new documenting existing business models. It is also known as visual chart filled with nine blocks of elements describing firms’ or product’s value proposition, infrastructure, customers and also finances. The co-founder of Canva, Melanie Perkins once said that “if you can offer a free tier that provides a lot of value, it will naturally help your product to spread much more rapidly.” With this being said, every ideas have their own value which we cannot turn a blind eye and we must see the potential of one’s business no matter how small it is to be proposed and to be improve so that more successful entrepreneur can be discovered regardless of their age.

Therefore, the purpose of preparing the business model canvas are to help us analyze the business model of our own company and to ensure that we, as young entrepreneur are able to keep focus on our key building blocks in order to save more time and succeed. These nine key blocks of elements help us to have a clearer vision on what we wanted to promote and what we wanted to target in our proposed business plan.

Hence, for this report, I have proposed a café’s business which known as Soulmate Café. The reason why it is named after Soulmate Café is because we really hope that this café can be a medium for people to feel connected to each other regardless of their status or age. We want our customers to feel they are loved by offering them friendly customers service while they enjoying our products. Although there are some people who are unable to visit us directly at our place, I am determined to make sure that those customers would not feel left out in any ways. Therefore, we have come up with an idea to do delivery service for people who are going under circumstances to come at our café. To add on, our cafe is a sole proprietorship business located at Jalan Simpang Persiaran Spring, 93300 Kuching, Sarawak. It is a coffee shop that offers only good quality food services, which we highly emphasize on its originality, efficiency and satisfaction among our own customers after their visits.

Soulmate Café has strong-willed to establish a place for people to gather and enjoy their time without any regret. Basically, our café provide beautiful scenery from the outside which will allow our customers to escape from their daily stresses life by enjoying the perfect relaxing and cozy vibes of our café. Thus, we provide the best quality of our products for our customers so that they can spend their leisure time trying our products with their loved ones.

Here, at Soulmate Café, we offer our customers only the best local quality coffee beverages that will surely fantasize all the coffee drinkers and coffee addicts as we maintained the originality of our own products. Not only that, they can also enjoy our delightfully rich desserts and light refreshments to balance the vaguely taste of their coffee. To put it simply, our café is the best choice to hang out with friends, family or your partner while reading some books and enjoying the vivid and breathlessly exquisite scenery. Besides that, our café are not only focusing on being a number one coffee shop but, we also offered food service that will give our customers real satisfaction from the savory taste of our western cuisine that they will not regret at all but to feel the delicious floating sensation of our food.

1. Value Proposition Value proposition is the promise made by us in order to value our promises that we can offer and the feature deliberate to make our products or services look appealing to the consumers. Thus, the value proposition that our café are offering are as below:

i.

Halal: Soulmate café assure that all the products that we are selling to our customers are all halal to make sure that everyone can enjoy our products regardless of their religion. We are determined to pay attention more on the use of our ingredients so that it meets the requirements of Islamic law. Moreover, we ensure that the preparations of our products are all made in a hygienic environment and that we prioritize our customers’ health as the first thing to be concern of.

ii.

Quality local coffee brew: Our coffee is more unique as compared to other coffee shop as we only offers handmade local coffee which is made with high quality and original coffee beans supplied from our coffee farmers. We offer the best tasting coffee beverages in the area which highlight on its own originality and high quality ingredients. Other than that, the reason why we are here is to give satisfaction for all the coffee drinkers and coffee addicts by our sensational espresso-based coffee such as lattes, mochas, cappuccinos, macchiato, Americano and many more. To add on, they can combined it with steamed milk or other additives like cocoa, caramel, milk foam, cream and more to give it a velvety smoothness and to make the texture of the coffee become thicker as well as tastier.

iii.

Famous desserts: Moving on to our next value proposition, we will also offer our customers with variety of exciting and royally luxurious famous desserts to serve on. Customers can order as many mouth-feel desserts as they want such as cakes, tiramisu, pastries, pies, cupcakes, refreshing ice creams with variety of flavors to choose from and many more. Our signature dessert will be a moist chocolate cake set with a minimum price. They can try our delightfully rich desserts and refreshments along with their hot or ice coffee to balance the bitterness of the coffee and the sweetness from the desserts.

Savory western cuisines: In additional, we also offer our customers trendy western cuisines which will be another reason why they should visit our café and try our products. This is because, we are not just focusing on just coffee and refreshments but we also make sure that our customers are able to go back with a happy tummy. We are selling western meals such as pasta and shrimps as our western meals’ signature dish, cheesy rice with roasted chicken, chicken paprika, hot pan pizzas and super cheesy beef mac and cheese offered with a minimum price.

v.

Fast deliveries: Our café’s goal is to be a medium where we can make people to feel more connected to us even if they are not able to visit us directly at our cafe. Hence, in order to achieve this goal, we decided to join hands with one of our key partner which is Food Panda Delivery Service as they are the most trusted and reputable online food ordering and fast delivery service that we have here, in Malaysia. This can be done by letting them know that they can place their order by searching out our café’s name through Food Panda app. Moreover, it is also believed that, this strategy can make our customers’ life easier as online ordering method are much more easier and simpler to be done at anytime and anywhere. Other than that, it is also less time consuming and energy saving. With this being said, we are more than determine to make sure that all of our beloved customers can receive their order direct to their doorstep on time and with full hearted service. Thus, they can enjoy a lot of our mouth-watering meals with their family, friends and their partner regardless of their location with no worries.

vi.

Reasonable price: In Soulmate Café’s value proposition, we also include that we will only offering food and beverages with a reasonable price for our customers. This is because we know the fact that in developing a good business, we need to take into much consideration about the pricing value that we are able to offer to our customers and not only just focusing on its quality of products. Therefore, we highly emphasize on our customers’ satisfaction by maintaining both of the qualities and reasonable price to maintain the relationship and satisfaction among the customers.

Relaxing and cozy vibes: Soulmate café’s concept is a comfortably relaxing café where, we provide a place for people to gather and relax from their busy schedule. They can grab a cup of coffee, enjoy some desserts and filling up their tummy with exciting western meals while looking at the breathlessly exquisite view from the outside of our café. The greenery and colorful garden with a splashing fountain from the outside of our café purposely be made to help our customers escape from their daily working stress. It is a comfortable place where they can meet their loved ones, chatting, relaxing or reading their books all in one. Therefore, this will attract many customers to come to our café especially those who are longing to be relaxed and wanted to release their stress. Moreover, nowadays, people tend to search up for a place that has the best view and comfy vibes in order to spend time with their loved ones. This is because, there are a trend that going long for a while even until now which is, “you must take photos before you eat and upload it in the social media.” Hence, Soulmate Café is eager to make our café a place with the best view and comfy vibes so that people won’t regret to come directly at our place.

2. Customer Segments Customer segments are group of customers or business that we are aiming to sell our products and give our service to. Therefore, below are lists of customer segments of Soulmate Café:

i.

Teenagers: Teenagers are the young people aged between 13 to 19 years old. We believed that, they are a group of people who will develop their unconditionally interest in our café and they are highly likely to buy our products from time to time. This is because teens tend to spend their money more on food than buying clothes. Other than that, due to the emerging trend of drinking coffee and hanging out with friends at a trendy café, teenagers tend to be trend seekers that would follow these types of lifestyles without wanting to be a little bit left behind from their other friends. Not only that, they also prefer a place with a relaxing and comfortable atmosphere in order to hang out with their friends rather than at a busy and rushing restaurants. There is also a saying that goes, “coffee with a friend is like capturing happiness in a cup.”

ii.

Family: Our next customer segments include group of family. We are targeting them because we believed that the bond between family members can be strengthen while they are eating meals or drink coffee together. Our café offer the best desserts which all parents will feel excited to bring their kids along. Besides that, we also offer a large plate of western meals specifically to be shared among their family members. Not only that, our place is definitely the perfect choice to go whenever they wanted to celebrate their family member’s birthday.

iii.

Newlywed or married couple: Despites that, we also targeted newlywed or married couple in our customer segments because we know that nothing can stop them from finding a good and relaxing place to enjoy their coffee with their soulmate and strengthen their relationship. What is more content than being able to spend time with their coffee mate? Besides, the comfy and delicate aroma of our coffee along with the ambrosial smells of our desserts are something that they will not regret but to feel rejoice after. In additional, fact has shown that drinking coffee with partner can bring happiness and make one’s feel more relaxed as time goes by.

Freelancers: Freelancers are people who are self-employed. Freelance workers will always be a target especially for coffee shop. This is because, it is believed that they are people who prefer to be at a quiet, comfortable and soothing place like café to enjoy their own time without being disturb. It is also believed that, freelancers really enjoy drinking coffee in order to keep their mind at ease.

v.

Full time professionals: People who are busy such as full time professionals have limited time to go to the busy restaurants. Instead, they prefer to keep their life as simple as just drop, grab some coffee and go. Those professional workers are sometimes can be busier than ever that they have to stay at office the whole time without having sufficient time to eat. Therefore, we are determined to keep everything are convenient for them by doing deliveries.

3. Customer Relationship Moving on to the next key element, customer relationship can be defined as the type of relationship that one’s business establish with its customer segments. Hence, Soulmate café have come up with a few strategies to maintain the relationship with our loyal customers.

i.

Contact center: In order to maintain and strengthen our relationship with our customers, we will ensure that our customers can reach us by contacting directly to our contact center where we will always be ready to listen to their feedbacks and complaints issued from them from time to time. This strategy is not only implemented in order to maintain our friendly relationships with our customers but also to give opportunity for us to improve our weakness so that it meets to the liking and satisfaction among customers with our products and service. Besides giving continuous feedbacks and complaints, they also can reach us through contact center to ask about anything that related to our café such as our current pricing products, what services do we offering, what time we start operating, our closing time and many more. Hence, we will always be ready to give enlightenment to their questions.

Websites: Besides contact center, another way to maintain the relationship with our customers is

Moreover, our websites also contain sufficient information such as when and how we establish our café, what factors influence us to continue our business, the uniqueness of our beverages and food service and many more. Through websites (e-commerce), we believed that this strategy can help to promote our café better and become a medium for people to get to know us better.

iii.

Social media: Social media such as Instagram and Facebook have become one of the most essentials platforms in order to stay connected to everyone and to allow us to follow up with their everyday lifestyles. Therefore, as almost half of the world population have their own Instagram and Facebook accounts, it will be much easier for us to maintain our relationship with our loyal and potential customers. Through this 9

thorough strategy, we will put our utmost effort in uploading a lot of our products and café’s pictures as well as all the feedbacks that we receive in our social media. This is done not only for promotional purpose but also to encourage them to give comments and feedbacks of their thoughts on Soulmate Café through this online approach. Most importantly, we can maintain our relationships with customers by communicating and listening to their opinion through our social media platforms. Thus, they can always follow us on our Instagram account at soulmatecafe_official and through our Facebook account which is soulmatecafe.

iv.

Free books and vouchers: Furthermore, there is no denial that we love all of our customers and therefore, we are more than excited to make them happy with our giveaway such as free books by famous authors if they frequently visit our café. Our café would like to encourage more people to spend their leisure time with reading while enjoying our products. This strategy is like killing two birds with one stone as we can make them happy with our giveaways and also maintaining relationships with customers. To add on, customers voucher are given to those who frequently visit our café and people who spend more than RM60.00 after purchasing our products. Therefore, they will get their discount the next time they visit our café. Through the customers voucher, we are determined to encourage and maintain the customers’ loyalty to us.

4. Channels Channels can be described as the method on how the seller will communicate with their customer segments. It is also emphasizes on how our products will be distribute to our customers. Thus, in business model canvas, channel can be divided into two which are direct channel and indirect channel. Therefore, our channels include:

i.

Direct sales: Firstly, we believed that the best method to approach our customers is by doing direct sales where people can visit our café and grab our products directly from us. This face to face method is rather effective to develop our relationship with our own customers. Besides, direct sales allow them to experience the freshness of our products straight from the oven. Hence, we are always ready to welcome everyone with the highest quality of our products and services. Therefore, with that being said, direct sales will be one of our distribution direct channels.

ii.

Websites: Secondly, our distribution channel will be our own official websites, where people can look up for our menu, learn more about us and will be linked directly to Food Panda apps in order to place their order. Hence, people can get our products not only from direct sales but also through our websites and Food Panda apps.

iii.

Social media: Furthermore, Soulmate café cannot be left behind in our rapid growth of technology such as the widely used of social media among our communities.
