Answer Working hand in hand with others usually requires a high level of agreeability. When working in the customer service industry being likable is an absolute must. Employees work harder for the bosses/leaders that they like and it “makes the workday more pleasant and companionable” (business-leadership-qualities.com, n.d.). When people work in a friendly environment, with people they genuinely like or respect, they are more likely to have job satisfaction and company loyalty. When people are happy in their jobs they are going to stick around through the hard times, which means less time training new employees and an overall nicer work environment. On the other side of this equation, customers/clients are more likely to be better served by an employee with an agreeable attitude. Typically, when a person is agreeable, their “helping behavior does not depend on their good mood” (Carpenter, M., Bauer, T., & Erdogan, B., 2010, pg. 76). This is extremely important in the customer service industry, such as hotel management, as it is really hard for customers to have their concerns addressed when an agreeable personality is not present and that employee is having a bad day. Agreeableness is the core foundation in hotel management, as these managers need to be able to work directly with the support staff and also with their customers and high-end clientele. People want to be where they feel welcomed and appreciated; agreeableness goes a long way to making a job feel like a career, and a hotel like a home. Answer Life is a living thing and as such any business organization. Due to micro and macro dynamics, every business goes through some form of changes and as a result requires the business’ employees to adapt to the changes as and when they come so as to keep the flow of service that the business is offering. In view of that, among the “Big Five People Traits”, one that is most important trait to my current work is openness. This can be defined as the extent to which someone is original, intellectual,

curious, creative, and flexible to new and emerging situations as and when they present themselves. Working with employees who can easily adapt to changes make it somehow easy to make an urgent decisions without hesitation. This is very crucial in the sense that, certain decisions can not be deferred. For example, I supervise a group of workers in residential home. These population are highly susceptible to infectious diseases and because of that infection control protocols have always been our hallmark. With the recent pandemic (COVID 19 ), all the entrances to our facity have been closed apart from the main one. This means every staff entering the facility must come throuth the main one and at this point, screeners are stationed there to used thermometer gun to check everyone’s temperature, wash your hands with alcohol based sanitizer, you will be asked whether you’re coughing or having headache, then you’re giving surgical mask before you are giving access to the house. Workers have to come to work earlier than usual to que and get screened in order not to be late to work. This is something out of the normal routine so far as our work is concerned. We couldn’t have afforded to risk the lives of our dear and loved ones so it became imperative to institute that. I can gladly say that, though it was not easy to implement these measures but employees have supported this idea and things are running smoothly. Workers needed to adjust to the “new normal” so as to get things done without putting the lives of our residents at risk. This personality traits aligns to my professional goals because, as a health staff, you always have to be on guard for any eventualities. Always respond just in time (JIT ). A wasted minut can save or unsave a life. No argument when it comes to life so, being flexible in this area is as precious as diamond.

Answer Pick one of the “Big Five Personality Traits” that details the most important trait for your current job. Describe why this is the most important. Give an example of how this personality trait aligns with one of your professional goals. As I was reviewing the condensed list of personality traits, otherwise known as the curated “Big Five” I assessed which of these traits most suited myself and my team and noticed that many of us operate daily out of several of those traits. However, the trait that best describes me overall, and I actively apply in my current role as leasing manger, is “openness.” In this trait, which comprises, curiosity, originality, intellect, creativity, ingenuity, innovativeness; I am most comparable. I tend to take a proactive approach to my work and aspire to get out in front of a situation before it results in a problem. I am an overseer so I have to continue to nurture my creativity to troubleshoot issues, and create new ways of doing a task, especially in the event one task is no longer effective or producing the desired results. In the text, it mentions how one who identifies with this trait is open to new ideas and takes a proactive stance, in other words, flexible and adaptable. I am definitely flexible because I want to be sure I am not only approachable but I set a good example of leadership. Leadership carries the responsibility to learn to follow others as well, so I have to be open able to adapt. These attributes that fall under “openness” are helpful in my second job or career field, real estate. As a real estate agent, I am an independent contractor, self-employed which bears a lot of responsibility and requires consistency and discipline. Consistency is important in any self-employed

field because your outcome may constantly change and will require a lot of ingenuity, creativity, research, and flexibility to keep your business afloat amidst ever-changing times and situations. Being an innovative person, open to new ideas, and just being proactively dedicated to gaining a successful outcome, aligns perfectly with this trait in my dual role as a leasing manager and real estate agent. ________________________________________ Carpenter, M., Bauer, T., & Erdogan, B.
