Description

Daniela Araujo CGS2531 Assignment 1 Part 1 1.

I am studying marketing at the University of Florida because it is my dream to one day become an entrepreneur and start my own business. The idea of becoming my own boss and running a company that profits off of something I am passionate about and can call my own is extremely fascinating. Business personally interests me, because the world simply thrives off of goods and services, and learning how to efficiently market a business can help you thrive as an individual or even as an entire nation. Achieving an exceptional education as a business student is my ultimate goal to pursue my passion. 2. Ideally, in five years I can see myself starting my own business selling organic, all-natural health and lifestyle products for men and women of all ages. One of my biggest passions in life is helping others, so to combine my love for business and entrepreneurship, I want to help those around me feel and look their best. I see myself running my business from home and working mainly online, but also holding events for my employees and I to become even more passionate and successful within the company. I want my company to have a positive reputation and for my employees to love what they do as well, so my goal is to put my all into successfully starting my business. 3. In order to become a successful businesswoman, I would need more hands-on experience with finances, as well further education regarding economics both a large and small scale before I graduate in order to help me successfully launch my own business and make my dreams come true. I plan on studying abroad for a semester in Europe, so understanding the economic standing and tactics of a foreign market would expand my knowledge as a student and as a future entrepreneur. Before I graduate, I would also need to work as an intern for a local company to understand how local businesses function compared to international businesses.

Part 2 1. One new skill I learned about in Microsoft Word from the Lynda.com video series was how to create my own themes and style sets. This could be extremely beneficial for my future business, because my company will have its own unique style, color scheme, and theme to portray its logo and name. Mastering this skill after creating my unique theme would make my job much easier and save me time, because instead of putting together my company’s theme every time I create a new document on Microsoft Word, it would already be saved on my computer in a file. Mastering this skill would also benefit my business, because I would never forget what my theme would look like or make a mistake putting it together for every new document. Consistency is important when building a business, and knowing how to create my own themes and styles would greatly benefit my ability to positively publish my brand. It would give me the time to put together a beautiful, unique theme for my company that will always be saved on my computer, knowing it is my own creative work, which would help me to not forget any special pieces that go along with its style. 2. I plan on watching “Social Media Marketing for Small Business” under the “Marketing Training + Tutorials” section of the Lynda.com video series, because although this concept may seem straightforward in posting about your brand online, there are a plethora of tips and tricks that could really help me launch my business quickly and spread the word of its name and purpose.. This video is extremely relevant to the field I plan on working in, because being an entrepreneur comes with good marketing skills, especially online and through social media. I want people to know about my brand and its goal to help others feel and look their best and boost daily health, so marketing my business in the most positive manner is extremely important to me. Social media is becoming more and more popular every day, so this training would lead me to learn the best ways and websites to advertise my business. Another goal of mine is to create a blog to give public updates of my client testimonies and well-being to inspire others and promote my company, so this social media marketing video series would really help me blossom into a young, professional business woman with credible content.

WORK EXPERIENCE  Treasure Box Kids Marketing Intern

March 2015 – June 2016

The responsibilities of this job included teamwork in creating marketing materials to promote the clothing company’s products and services, putting together client presentations, and direct work with the Microsoft Word and Excel Systems.

Part 9 Although both of my cover letters were extremely similar in style, I fine-tuned each of them carefully to cater to each of the job’s unique requirements, mandatory skills and responsibilities. In my first cover letter for job posting 1, I wrote it directly to the hiring manager of TechTarget in Newton, Massachusetts expressing my interest in becoming a marketing manager. TechTarget was specifically looking for driven, energetic individuals who are proficient in various social channels and computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Marketo. Since this was not an entry level position, I mentioned my two year internship with SeaWorld Orlando’s marketing department and talked about the interpersonal and

technological skills I had acquired by working with such a diverse group of people and how I had to prepare presentations for clients. I also emphasized my experience using SeaWorld’s E-Commerce system to express my economic and financial knowledge and how I could benefit TechTarget’s marketing department. In my second cover letter for job posting 2, I fine-tuned the cover letter to express my interest for an entry-level job, mentioning that I had a year of experience interning at Treasure Box Kids clothing company managing simple tasks and implementing marketing strategies to improve the company’s business and website. I talked about how I was young, energetic and driven with a passion for a new career, as well as my love for team work and communication. I talked about my experience with Microsoft Word and Excel, and how I used it with project management to better the company. Even though both of these positions were similar within the marketing field, they differed in their level of experience they are looking for in a potential employee, so in each cover letter, I had to emphasize either my simple or complex knowledge of marketing and management depending on the company. Each of my resumes for job 1 and job 2 were formatted alike, but I fine-tuned them to more fit the specific description of each job’s requirements and skills. In my first resume for job 1, my objective greatly differed from the one in job 2. I expressed my interest in becoming a full-time marketing manager at TechTarget and mentioned how I wanted to bring my interpersonal and technological skills to good use and benefit this company. Job 1 definitely required more experience than job 2, so I mentioned my involvement in UF’s Business Administration College Council, UF’s “Bate Papo” Brazilian Portuguese Club, and a leadership position as the Public Relations Chairman of my sorority to show that I was wellrounded and had exceptional communication skills. As for other skills, I expressed my proficiency in their required programs Marketo, Excel, and B2B, as well as my ability to fluently speak English, German and Portuguese. As for work experience, I mentioned my two year internship with SeaWorld Orlando’s marketing department to express my knowledge with marketing, social, and financial systems. In my second resume for job 2, my achievements were similar but I made my work experience much simpler to more fit an entry-level position. Just like my resume for job 1, I mentioned my membership in UF’s Business Administration College Council, my Public Relations Chairman position, and my membership in Brazilian Portuguese Club. The only difference is that I mentioned I was the president of the Brazilian Portuguese Club, because this entry-level position greatly expressed their want for energetic leaders with exceptional interpersonal and team-building skills, which all come with a president’s position of a foreign language club. As for work experience, I mentioned my short-lived internship I did with Treasure Box Kids clothing company in the marketing department for a year, and mentioned my proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as GoDaddy’s Website Builder to emphasize my expertise in simple computer programs. Although my resumes for both of these jobs were similar in style, I tweaked each of them to individually match each job’s unique requirements and to show them that I have what it takes to become their future employee....
