CHAPTER IV ARCHITECTURAL PROGRAMMING 4.1 Spatial Organization 4.1.1 Spatial Identification A spatial identification is to expand in detailed form the spaces by determining their functions and specific roles in the establishment for its intended users. Upon defining the probable users and their purpose, each role will be assigned to different spaces concerning its users. 4.1.2 Staffing Requirements This section will show and explain the users of each department or section in the proposed project and its component establishment. 4.1.2.1 Shopping Mall I. Administration – It refers to the group of individual who is in charge of creating and enforcing rules and regulations, or those in leadership positions who complete an important task. 

Accounting and Finance Office – is the office for the staff involved with the financial matters, and has the control on the financial income and outcome.



Archive Room – is the room for the records and documents.



Building Administration Office – is the office responsible for in the supervision of maintenance services to ensure proper upkeep of the mall, including its amenities, utilities, and equipment in accordance with company standards of safety, cleanliness, and orderliness. 134



Common Toilet – is a restroom for the common use of the staff.



Conference Room – is the room with sufficient space holding a certain number of a person for the corporate meetings and conferences.



General Manager’s Office - is the office for profitable mall operations in accordance with the management’s directives and income expectations.



Human Resources Office – is the office of the personnel that is responsible for hiring, firing, and keeping up to date with state and federal tax laws.



Leasing Office – is the department that involves but not limited to receiving rents from facilities they own and paying rent for the facilities they lease.



Marketing and Advertisement Manager’s Office – is the office of the personnel that promotes business and drives sales of the products or services. It provides the necessary research to identify your target customers and other audiences.



Security Office – is the office for maintaining the safety of users/shoppers.



Treasury Office – is an office concerned with the finance matters and has a control on the financial income and outcome.

II. Building Management – it refers to the coordinator of the physical workplace with the people and work of an organization, it encompasses all activities related to keeping a complex operating. 

AHU Room – is a room for the air-conditioning system.



Electrical Room – is a room or space in a building dedicated to the mechanical equipment.



Engineering Office – is the office for the resident engineer or building administrator.



Generator Room – is a space for generator set.



Security Office – is a room or headquarters for the security personnel and guards.



Staff Lounge – is a space for relaxation of staff

III. Anchors – It refers to commercial and recreational spaces that are managed or owned by the mall, operated in partnership with the mall management. 

Bowling Center – is a facility where the sport of bowling is played.



Department Store - is a retail establishment offering a wide range of consumer goods in different product categories known as "departments".



Entertainment Event Area - means an area of land that is specified in a major sporting event in order to be an event area for the purposes of a major sporting event.

Fitness First – is the largest privately-owned health club group in the world. It offers everyone the opportunity to improve their health and fitness.



Food Court – is an area, typically in a shopping mall, where fast food outlets, tables, and chairs are located.



Time Zone – is the leading fun family interactive indoor entertainment center that offers state of art attractive and popular interactive games in a safe, friendly, brightly lit, and happy environment.

IV. Major Tenants – profitable for rentals General Retail Stores. 

Bookstore – is a commercial space for books, office stuff, and school supplies.



Clothing Line – is a collection of different clothes and looks created by a designer or group of designers.



Drugstore – is a retail store that is the main product of medications, along with first aid and other similar products.



Flower Shop – a shop where flowers and ornamental plants are sold.



Food Stalls and Restaurant – refer to areas which serve a different variety of foods features in Quezon Province.



Furniture Store – is a store where furniture sets and interior decorations were sold.

Hardware Store – is a store that sells metal goods and things for your home or garden such as pans, knives, tools, and chemical products.



Home Appliance Store – is a store that assists in household functions.



Jewelry Shop – is a retail business establishment that specializes in selling jewelry and watches, provides many services such as repairs, remodeling, restoring, designing, and manufacturing pieces.



Pet Shop – is a retail business that sells different kinds of animals to the public.



PhotoShop – is used by photographers, graphic designers, video game artists, advertising, and meme designers.

Food Market 

Bakery and Bakeshops – is an establishment that produces and sells flour-based food baked in an oven such as bread, cookies, cakes pastries, and pies.



Liquor and Wine Stores – is a retail shop that predominantly sells prepackaged alcoholic beverages typically in bottles.



Supermarket – is a large self-service store selling foods and household goods.

Personal Service Shop 

Barber Shop – is one of the places where people go to get their hair cut.



Beauty Parlor – is a place where people can go to have beauty treatment in their hairs, nails, or makeup done.



Dressmaking and Tailoring Shop – make the clothing according to the needs and requests of their customers.



Spa – is a shop that provides a variety of services for the purpose of improving health, beauty, and relaxation through personal care treatments such as hair, massages, and facials.



Wellness Center – usually offers skin care services and body services such as fitness, personal training, and nutrition consulting.

Financial Institutions Services 

Banks ATM - which stands for Automated Teller Machine, is a specialized computer that makes it convenient to manage a bank account holder's funds.



Foreign Exchange - is a business that has the legal right to exchange one currency for another to its customers.



Insurance – helps in protecting the company from financial loss.

Money Lending - is a shop or business that loans money to people who bring invaluable items that they leave with the pawnbroker.

V. Service Area 

Delivery Area – is a space where people move through and interact with a building.



Garbage Room – intended for garbage disposal management of the mall.



Maintenance Crew Area – is an area for maintenance staff.



Storage Room – is a room in which store tools and other equipment were kept.

VI. Public Circulation Area – It refers to space where people move through and interact with a building. VII. Tenants Space – are rentable spaces for tenants usually located in hallways. VIII. Activity Center/Exhibition Area – is a part of a mall which is open space for activities, workshop, gathering, exhibition, and other functions. IX. Public Toilets – is a room or small building with toilets and sinks that do not belong to a particular household. 4.1.2.2 Business Center Public Circulation Area 

Elevator – is a lifting device that moves the people or items up and down.

Hallways – are interior passages or corridors leading to rooms.



Lobby – is an entrance hall, corridor or vestibule, as in a public building, often serving as an anteroom, foyer.



Stairs – a set of steps leading from one floor of a building to another, typically inside the building.

4.1.2. Space Identification In this section, the proponent analyzed the project spatial elements to have an ideas of the spaces approximate area needed for design development. 4.1.2.1. Major Space Requirements Shopping Mall It is a large building or series of connected buildings containing a variety of retail stores and typically also restaurants and other business establishments housed in a series of connected or adjacent buildings or a single large building. Entertainment Areas These refer to places marketed towards families with small children to teenagers and often entirely indoors or associated with a larger operation such as an amusement park. They usually cater to sub-regional markets of larger metropolitan areas.
