Demi Lovato, world famous pop star, will be interviewed by Dr. Phil in a “tell-all” episode about her past struggles with mental health, sobriety, and her mission to inspire and motivate her fans. Dr. Phil will be taking part in her project to spread mental health awareness.

GUEST PROFILE Demetria Devonne Lovato, popularly known as her stage name ‘Demi Lovato’ was born August 20, 1992 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Her mother Dianna De La Garza was a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader and her father Patrick Martin Lovato was an engineer and musician. Her father is of Mexican descent and her mother is of English and Irish descent. She is a well known as an American singer, songwriter, and actress. Lovato was raised in Dallas, Texas where she first started her career on the children’s show Barney & Friends as the character Angela in 2002. She became interested in music at the age of 7 and learned to play Piano and then followed with learning Guitar at age 10. This is also when she began acting and dancing lessons. She appeared in the shows Prison Break and Just Jordan in 2006-2007. Due to her being bullied so badly in school, Lovato asked to be home-schooled and graduated with her diploma in 2009. Later on, she became a spokesperson against bullying with the anti-bullying organization PACER which led her to appear on America’s Next Top Model to speak out against bullying. During the years of 2007-2008 Lovato gained her big break by snagging the lead role of Mitchie Torres in the Disney film Camp Rock, which was viewed by an audience of 8.9 million. She also won the lead role on the Disney sitcom Sonny With a Chance. Following her successful Disney acting career, Demi Lovato released her debut album Don’t Forget on September 23, 2008. Demi continued her music career after announcing a hiatus from acting and departure from Sonny With a Chance in 2011. She followed her debut album with Here We Go Again and Unbroken. Demi Lovato’s personal struggles have ranged from suffering from depression, eating disorders, self-harm, and drugs and alcohol. She went into rehab at the age of 18 and received inpatient treatment at Timberline Knolls where she was diagnosed with bulimia and bipolar disorder. Lovato celebrated 5 years of sobriety from her cocaine addiction in 2017. She now advocates for mental health awareness, drug rehabilitation, suicide awareness, bullying awareness, and LGBQT rights . -On her 18th Birthday Demi purchased her family a new mediterranean style house, saying that giving her loved ones the home was the best gift of all. -She loves heavy metal music (it’s her guilty pleasure) -She became an ambassador for the deodorant company Secret’s campaign called “Mean Stinks”, which encouraged young girls to “gang up for god” and end bullying in schools. -She released a documentary on her treatment called ‘Stay Strong’ MAIN PROMOTION SUMMARY Demi Lovato will appear on the Dr. Phil show in a revealing interview on her past drug addiction and alcohol abuse. She will also be discussing her treatment and journey to sobriety. Topics such as suicide, self harm, and depression will come to awareness in tasteful form. This episode will air with the aim of showing the steps you need to get help and also noticing the signs that someone needs help.
