1) What is the topic you have chosen for your persuasive essay? The topic that I have chosen for this essay is Prisoner reform/ Prison System.

2) Begin thinking about the different issues associated with the topic you have selected, narrow your focus, and take a pro or con position for the subject of your essay. Present a simple statement of your position here. Example statement: Personal use of social media is not appropriate in the workplace. The prison system is failing the prisoners by not providing the right tools for them to be successfully integrated back into society. © 2013. Grand Canyon University. All Rights Reserved.

3) Give rationale for that stance. (50-100 words. Avoid using emotional reasoning and focus on facts and evidence to help support your rationale)? The prison system fails the prisoners in many ways. Fixing the core of the problem will help not only the prisoners, but the community as well. Prison systems should focus on getting each prisoner the right tools and help that they need to be successful. Offering mental health, educating them, offering teachable skills, classes, preparing them to be successful. A real chance to become a better outstanding member of society.

Section II: Identify your Audience. Review the media piece before beginning this section: http://lc.gcumedia.com/phi105/persuasive-writing-website/persuasive-writing-website-v1.1.html Answer the following questions regarding the audience for your essay in complete sentences. 1) Who is the ideal audience for this persuasive essay, and why? Please avoid naming your instructor, classmates, family, friends, and coworkers. The ideal audience for this essay would be legislators and taxpayers because legislators have the power to come up with regulations that can improve the system. The taxpayers should be included in this audience because their hardworking money can be used to make a difference in that way.

2) What is the appropriate way to address this audience (professional, familial, friendly)? Why? The appropriate way to address this audience is in a professional matter because legislators are in position of power and authority and they deserve such respect, as well as taxpayers.

3) What about your topic is important to your audience? What about your topic is not important to your audience? The important factors to my audience would be how this would bring a positive change in society, the benefits and the emotions that are behind the topic would not be important to my audience.
