Holly Rothrock Ms. Shrader English 101 November 12, 2019 Classification Essay When it comes to television shows there are many ways to classify shows. When classifying any type of television shows, television producers put them into genres. For example, children’s, thriller, and comedy are just an few many different types of genres that are put television shows into. While there are many genres, there are also subgenres for those genres. These subgenres reflect if there are two genres in one show. The main genre and/or subgenre of the television show can also help a person select the type of show that appeals to him or her. Many shows keep him or her in suspense and wait to tell what happens until the last season while other shows flow with what is going on. There are many different types of TV shows; the most popular shows people tend to watch are medical, crime, and drama. The first kind of television shows that is very popular to people are medical shows. Medical shows are a type of drama filmed in a hospital. Grey’s Anatomy, Good Doctor, and Scrubs are just a few names of medical shows aired and are extremely popular. Personally, I am a big fan of medical shows. For example, Grey’s Anatomy is a show that can makes me cry, laugh, nervous, and excited all in one episode. This show also has many seasons. If you are wanted to binge watch a show and you like medical shows, this show is highly recommended. When watching medical shows, I put myself in the shoes of the doctors and think what I would do in that type of situation. I like to watch medical shows often. I really think sometimes if a medical

emergency were to happen, I would know what to do. Medical shows are the best kind because they give you every type of emotional all in one. The second kind of television shows that people are big fans of are crime shows. Criminal Minds, Law & Order, Mind Hunter, and Hawaii 50 are just a few names of the crime shows many people watch and go crazy about. Criminal Minds is one of my favorite crime television shows because it just gets my blood rushing in what is going to happen next and who is going to get killed. I never know what is going to happen next. The episodes in Criminal Minds are not ones a watcher has to watch in order. Every episode is a different case which is what I like about this show. Crime shows are important because it shows people what could actually happen if a situation like that would happen and honestly can prepare you for anything that might come one’s way. This type of television show brings thriller and horror among watchers because of the crime that go on in the shows. If I had to recommend any crime television show to anyone, I would highly recommend Criminal Minds to anyone because of how tot show is set up. The third kind of television show that many people watch is drama. Drama shows are what gets everyone at the edge of their seat because people are always in for a good girl fight or relationship drama. 90210, Awkward, The Kardashians, and Gossip Girl are four of the many drama shows that air every day on television. These drama shows spice up people’s lives by the thrill and excitement of drama and makes life exciting to know all the drama going on. One of my favorite drama shows is Awkward, this show is about teenage drama in high school and is a really good at showing what actually college drama is about. In this drama show there are so many different kinds of drama. It goes from relationship drama to girl fights to just regular at

home drama. If a watcher like all types of drama, I extremely recommended the drama television show Awkward. For us, we watch television for any reasons. Some people watch television as soon as they get home from work to wind down and let go and relax off the long day they had. We have children of all ages watching television for educational purposes. Many people have movie nights or have a family shows night that they do as a family to bring the family closer. Types of television shows have many purposes and can show how someone’s personality might be just by what they watch. For me, I like to watch television because it cools me off after an exhausting day and I really get into shows that interest me. Back home we use to have movie night every Thursday which brought the family closer. I believe television is a good thing to just let go of the day with....
