The general foundations of the legal system and law 1. Differences Question United Kingdom (UK) Indonesia (ID) 1. Legal System: What is the main difference between UK and ID legal system? UK has a common law system [ CITATION Cat08 \l 1033 ]. It is followed the Un-codified common law tradition. The UK legal system tradition can be traced since 1066 where the Norman conquest, since 1189 Time Immemorial and since 1707 Act of Union. The common law tradition is based on precedents that maintained in historical record which judicial decision made based on the similar cases. As the process of hundreds years of law system development, the UK law system is influencing many countries law system. It also does not have religion law within the state law system Indonesia (ID) has a civil law system[ CITATION Pau05 \l 1033 ]. It is followed the Codified civil law tradition. Indonesia got independence in 1945, where the development of constitution law, legal system started under Republic Indonesia jurisdiction. ID law system heavily influenced by Dutch law system, since 1602 where Dutch open its first trading post in ID. The development of Napoleonic Code also plays significant roles in 1848 where the civic code adopted by Netherland Indies, a jurisdiction government at that time. It is also the fact that before the Dutch law system being introduced, the ID people use their customary/traditional law and religious based law such as Islam where 80% of population religion....
