Conservationism Because of a special man able to think past today and be able to see what future generations needed to see: by the Progressive Movement made conservation part of this movement. This man as a boy found an interest in exotic and animals from faraway lands; he hunted them, study them, then to dissect them to examine every aspect of the creature including the remain left in its stomach. Every step he documented in journals. This boy as a man became President Theodore Roosevelt. During the Progressive Era, in twenty-two years Theodore Roosevelt and colleagues protected the bird and other wildlife by making preserves where the birds and wildlife would be safe. He put under Federal protection 18 National Monument; the most wellknown is “The Grand Canyon” in Arizona. The Smithsonian Institute, he donated many of the collections, he had acquired over the years. Roosevelt was also a big part of the most breathtaking museum…”The Museum of Natural History” in New York City. His other achievement is the 230 million acres of public, protected land, numerous National Park and Monuments…that he saved from destruction of us and the future generations to come (Theodore Roosevelt the Environment 2019)....
