Bryant University ETS-Major Field Test in Business Exam Guidelines – Fall 2015 The ETS Major Field Test in Business will be administered to all students enrolled in BUS 400 and IB 490 A according to the following schedule: ETS Exam Dates & Times – Date: Wednesday afternoon, November 4th – ALL BUS 400 day sections, and IB 490 section A are reassigned to take the test on this day and time. Time: 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm You are required to attend your assigned testing session. Plan early and plan accordingly! Place: Your regular class meeting time and room will be reassigned for the ETS test administration. Each Professor will inform students of the designated room location for his/her section. Online Test Environment: The ETS Major Field Test in Business will be administered electronically, via the worldwide web in a proctored classroom environment using your laptop, or in a room with computer workstations. Your Professor will advise you regarding your laptop. Score on ETS Exam and your BUS 400 or IB 490 Final Grade: Students who score in the top 20% nationally (scaled score of 164 or above), will automatically receive a ½ letter grade increase in their final grade for this course (B+ to A-, or B- to B). For those who score in the bottom 10% nationally (scaled score of 135 or below), you will automatically receive a ½ letter grade decrease in your grade for this course (A- becomes a B+, or B+ becomes a B). Absence from the test will result in an automatic ½ letter grade decrease. Summary:  ETS scaled score of 164 or above -- Increase in BUS 400 or IB 490 final grade by ½ letter grade  ETS scaled score of 135 or below -- Decrease in BUS 400 or IB 490 final grade by ½ letter grade  Absence from the ETS Exam – NOTE Well:

Absence from the ETS exam will result in a score of zero points placing the student in the bottom 10% – resulting in a decrease in the BUS 400 or IB 490 final grade of ½ letter grade.

Download the browser to your laptop o Go to the site www.mft-ets.org o Click Download ETS Online Testing Browser o On the next screen, click on Download ETS Online Testing Browser again. o Follow the directions listed and save the program called ETS Online Testing Browser to your desktop (be sure to specify the desktop so you can find it easily!) o If you have any problems or questions, contact Laptop Central.

Tips for Taking the Test There are no penalties for guessing; answer all the questions. Note the benefits to YOU for performing well on this exam! (Impact on your final grade as determined by your professor, strong national percentile ranking reflects a high level of core business

knowledge, certificates of achievement are awarded, personal satisfaction, another accomplishment for your résumé, etc.) Prepare for Two 1-hour sessions (with no break in-between)  The ETS exam is administered according to standards set by the Educational Testing Service with the intent to standardize test administration nationally.  The total time for the session, including pre-test, set up, and faculty proctor instructions, is 2 ½ hours. Plan accordingly.  Timing of the test is displayed on the computer screen so you can monitor your progress toward completion of each part of the test. Scratch paper (in the form of a blue book) and pencil will be distributed and collected by the Faculty Proctor. You will be prompted to complete a brief survey after the test is completed. Computer Security and Academic Honesty  Access to any computer online, or off line activities, is strictly prohibited during the entire testing session. The ETS secure browser will prevent students from performing any functions other than those required to take the test. Calculators, Dictionaries, Highlighters, Watches, Scratchpads, etc, etc …  The use of dictionaries or other books, slide rules, protractors, calculators, calculator watches, watch alarms (including those with flashing lights or alarm sounds), stereos, or radios with headphones, PDAs, PDA-Cell phones, compasses, rulers, highlighter pens, or papers of any kind, and all other digital and electronic devices are prohibited. Violation of these conditions will result in dismissal from the examination and an academic dishonesty accusation. The Bryant University Policy on Academic Behavior as stated in the 2015-2016 Bryant University Student Handbook is reaffirmed for the ETS exam. Work hard to do your personal best! You will be glad when you receive your test score.
