2. How to use this Guide This Course Enrolment Guide 2013 provides you with information on when and where the units available for study in this program will be offered in 2013. Enrolling in units for 2013 1. Read Section 3. ‘Program Information’ for information on course structure and unit sequence. Take note of any prerequisite or co-requisite requirements before selecting particular units.  A prerequisite is a requirement that must be met by a student before enrolment in a stipulated unit. It is your responsibility to ensure that you meet the prerequisites for a unit prior to enrolling into that unit.  A co-requisite is a requirement that must be met by having already passed or being concurrently enrolled in an associated unit in order to be able to enrol in the stipulated unit. If you wish to enrol into a unit for which you have not met the prerequisite or co-requisite requirements, please obtain approval from your Course Coordinator.

2. You must refer to Administration & Enrolment on the ACU website (http://students.acu.edu.au/332297) for information on how to complete your enrolment via Student Connect. ‘Administration & Enrolment’ also provides detailed information on managing your studies. 3. Log on to Student Connect and enrol (http://students.acu.edu.au/136953). Student Connect is a web interface allowing students to complete their ACU enrolment online.

IMPORTANT NOTE Failure to enrol or re-enrol before the published due dates for re-enrolment on the ACU website (http://students.acu.edu.au/381148) may result in late fee penalties. Even if you are unsure of what units you need to enrol in, please ensure that you enrol or re-enrol in at least one unit before the due date. Enrolling in at least one unit by the due date will enable you to add further units, or amend your enrolment via Student Connect up until the final dates published in the Critical Dates for Variation of Enrolment on the ACU website (http://students.acu.edu.au/273880).

**Students must enroll in both semester 1 and semester 2 units at the start of the academic year** Prerequisites/Co-requisites (check with Course Coordinator) Some prerequisite units are shown in parentheses in the Course Enrolment Guide. These units must be successfully completed before the chosen units. For more detailed information regarding prerequisite requirements and unit content, please check the ACU Handbook, available from the ACU website (http://www.acu.edu.au/142401). Students are reminded that, if they are enrolled in any subject which they have not successfully completed the necessary prerequisites, they must withdraw from that subject. The Core Curriculum The Australian Catholic University Core Curriculum has been designed to focus on aspects of the University’s identity and mission. The units emphasises critical judgment, clear expression, ethical decision-making and concern for others, as individuals and as a community. The Core is comprised of a total of five units: Two University Core units All students undertaking the Bachelor of Nursing are required to complete the following University Core units as part of this program: UNCC100 Our World, Community and Vulnerability UNCC300 Understanding Self and Society: Contemporary Perspectives Two Core Curriculum Program units These units build explicitly on the University Core units HLSC120 Society Culture and Health HLSC220 Health Care Ethics One Community Engagement unit This unit serves to integrate theory with practice and will be undertaken in year three of the course. Students who wish to undertake additional units must consult with the Course Coordinator and obtain approval. Additional Course Information Unit outlines and assessment requirements Unit outlines with details of textbooks and assessment requirements will be provided during the orientation week, the week prior to commencement of semester. Consultation with Academic Staff Academic staff consultation and contact details are provided on page 3 of this guide. Email correspondence to academic staff must include student name, student number, contact phone number, and the nature of the enquiry. Academic staff will respond in a timely manner, however academic staff will not respond to emails from providers other than the allocated ACU student email account as this risks the security of the University server.

Notice to continuing students and students who wish to vary their enrolment The program map and course rules contained within this course enrolment guide relate specifically to 2013 entry to the Bachelor of Nursing. Continuing students should refer to the course enrolment guide and course rules for the year they commenced study (or consult the course coordinator). Students commencing in 2013 who do not expect to conform to the published program map (eg. TAFE pathways, registered nurse, international registered nurse) should consult the course coordinator.

On Campus – Offered face-to-face or with an online component via the Learning Environment Online (LEO) at any one of the six ACU campuses. On Site – Offered face-to-face or with an online component via LEO at any location other than one of the six ACU campuses. Distance – Offered wholly through the provision of printed material to the student. These units may include an online component via LEO but printed material is the primary source of teaching. Online – Offered wholly through online study via LEO. Mixed mode – A combination of online, distance, on-campus and/or on-site delivery modes.
