CVE 40002 Structural Design of Low Rise Buildings~2021

SWINBURNE UNIVERSITY oF TECHNOLOGY FACULTY OF SCIENCE, ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY Assignment 1-Part a Assume that the five town houses shown in the architectural drawings (downloadable via CANVAS) are proposed to be built at 47 Parkside Rise Craigieburn Vic (corner of Parkside Rise and Grandview Boulevard). A satellite view (from Google Maps) of the site can be seen in Figure 1. The site of the proposed town houses is located on the slope of a hill as seen in the plan with the contour lines in the document (CVE40002~S1~2021~Assignment 1a~contour map of 47 Parkside Rise Craigieburn.pdf). The contour line plan can be downloaded from CANVAS . The map of the contour lines of the area was obtained from the web site of the Victorian State Government Land and Survey Spatial Information (LASSI). https://maps.land.vic.gov.au/lassi/ Determine the wind class for the house in accordance with AS 4055. Determine the design wind pressures for the general, edges and corners areas of the roof (lower and upper) and the walls for both ultimate and serviceability limit states for dwellings DW01 and DW02 ONLY. Summarise these design wind pressures on a marked version of the architectural drawings (similar as to what is produced in AS 4055, Figure 3.1 and 3.2). (5 marks)
