Benchmark - Gospel Essentials In at least 150 words, complete your introductory paragraph with a thesis statement in which you will address each of the sections. Gospel Essential Beliefs Nature of God The nature of God can be seen in many aspects. There is a triune God that is represented through the Holy Trinity. The trinity consists of three distinct persons in one essence or substance. 1 Corinthians 8:6 states, "yet for us, there is but one God, the father from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live"(Gateway Bible NIV). This line explains the distinct difference between God (the father) and Jesus Christ (the son). But the Holy Trinity also includes the Holy Spirit. God's character also says a lot about him. Some of those characteristics include spirituality, invisibility, knowledge, truthfulness, and wisdom. God is in all perfect, and although humans were created in his image, they could never be perfect. God's creation was existence, including Earth, humans, animals, and a way of living. Nature of Humanity It is known that God created man and woman in his image, but what does that mean exactly? Being created in God's image affects human character, relationships, and other aspects of human life. Humans are spiritual beings who possess dignity, value, and worth. Humans were made out of love, for love, and to love. Being made in God's image can also improve relationships with God and motivate one to live by his commandments. The human purpose is described in Genesis; to "rule and reign" and be "fruitful." According to The Human Problem, "Humans "image and likeness" to God make them believe they can rebel against him. This is the root of

the human problem of evil and sin. "sin is seen largely as a turning away from God, disobedience or distrust" (The Human Problem, Christianity). Sin was introduced after Adam and Eve went against God's words and ate the forbidden fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Nature of Jesus Jesus was born in a stable in Bethlehem, Palestine. Jesus is God's son. Jesus's kingdom purpose was to shed his blood on the cross to provide forgiveness of sins. (Hutchison, 2019). Jesus also explains how he came to Earth to fulfill his Father's will. Jesus lived to teach humans, and he died to save us. Jesus's doings have made it possible for humans to be forgiven, overcome challenges, and be able to live with God again someday. Everything Jesus has done and continues to do for humanity is considered significant in the Christian worldview. Being that Jesus is God in the flesh, that means humans were also made in the image of Jesus. One of Jesus’s most significant aspects is his teachings to humans. Jesus teaches us how to react in certain situations and how to live a holy life that will lead to heaven. Restoration "According to the Christian worldview, the solution to human problems is faith in Jesus Christ" (Divincenzo, A., 2014). When it comes to Christian salvation, faith and grace play a major role. Humans can’t be saved by solely through good deeds. One can only be saved by through faith in God and following his commandments. God knows that humans sin and that we are not perfect but one must repent for wrongdoings. "We should take our salvation seriously because it is free" (Nelson, A.E., 2013). You cannot force someone to get into the religion/ faith; it must be done genuinely. For humans to change, there has to be a desire. There is no force from Jesus to change. Ultimately, humans have the decision and that’s where free will comes in. Humans must also understand that nothing is going to change with the blink of an eye, it will

take time. The Holy Spirit changes us on the inside, but we have to invite the Spirit in" (Olsen, T. 2016). Christian Foundations Within the Christian faith, there are profits and powers. When one joins in a union with Christ, they become part of Christ's family, with fellow Christians. One becomes able when they accept Jesus Christ. Able to take part in fellowship with people who have the same Christian faith and be able to share that faith with others. In the end, one will receive everlasting life with God. There can be some misperception when it comes to talking about the Christian faith and interpreting the bible. Some preachers will use their own interpretation to influence their congregation (a group of religious persons under a common rule). When a person claims to be a Christian but does not live a Christian lifestyle, they are not a true Christian. Analysis of the Implications of the Christian Worldview A person's behavior and thinking can be influenced by Christianity. When a person is a true Christian, they will live their life that is pleasing to God. We should do good works and also help one another. Even when we have enemies, we should not change the way we live. We should love our enemies. When being a Christian, we should think before we speak, love one another unconditionally, a question our actions before we act in an ungodly way. We should not judge but also try to see the best in others. As Christians, we are to set the example of a godly life.

Conclusion

It is not easy being a Christian. There is an order when one becomes a Christian. The first thing is to get to know our creator. Christians should work on establishing an intimate relationship with God. Once you have done this, then Jesus can transform you into the person God has wanted you to be and you’ll want to be for yourself. He will grant you the wisdom and strength to get to go to heaven and live with him.
